MagicMynx and her 2010 ... no longer a photo a day!

Thanks Matt :)

Decided to revisit the £1 shot, get a whole coin with shadow.

Having a little trouble with this weeks theme - don't want something obvious (technically the orange covers it I suppose...) so decided to do a bit of research...

Coin: Definite improvement. Nice on Nattelie!

Chop: Can see definite thought has gone into that! I really like the moody tones and content.

Cool axe btw!

OO I really like the Duplo! You nailed the black background which makes the colours of the bricks really pop! Awesome Nat!

Ah my new camera  Cheers Nat, its my birthday in just over a month
any chance that it will be finished by then?

they are fab I love the love one with the ring
also the colours on the duplo are great
your pics are stunning

I love the concept, but something isn't quite hitting me with the axe shot. The only thing I can think of is to reshoot with the axe and the word "chop" in the same focal plane. You can maintain DoF while getting all the important bits in focus. The idea is spot on.

I should learn to read things properly. I just came in here thinking WTF has duplo got to do with 'chopped'. Love the colours though.

Of the chopped shots though I think the axe one has it, although it looks a little dark and could do with a bigger depth of field. It could work really well with the right lighting. I think it needs a bigger source like a softbox or umbrella so the reflection off the blade is not so intense and gives the rest of the shot a bit of extra lighting.

fav id the pencils.. but love the detail in the second..

I love the bright colours and the simple composition of the pencils.

Hi Nattelie. Really like the new (coral?) post. I'm only looking on my netbook but it looks a little soft. I think the image is about shape and texture rather than colour so maybe a contrasty B&W conversion zoomed in a bit closer might have really nailed it.

I should add a disclaimer that I try and offer some sort of critique rather than outright praise where I can so please don't take it as criticism, I'm just offering an opinion of how I would change it.

Hi Niel, thank you.

You're right, it is fairly soft. TBH there was better shots in the set, just I'm not too good today so took the easy one to finish  It's a mace/nutmeg seed case thingy. I will put a few of the set up in close ups tomorrow or Tuesday ;) a few closer etc.

Off on a tanjent I know but

*does a little happy dance*
I got stars!!!! Wahoo!!!
(I like stars......)

Hey nat, sorry I been missing this, never really looked at the 365's before. Firstly well done for keeping up with it and second you are getting some great pictures. Right then, better get some cc on them. :)

The axe/chop is a great idea, and you have taken it well. The Duplo is one of them shots that you love but dont really know why, so good job with that one. The pencils idea is clever as well, only thing is I wish the background was pure white, then it would look better , but its still a good shot well done. There my favourites. :)

Good luck with it.

OK....I've been having a bit of a tough time with my hands at the moment, meaning that turning the focus ring is harder than usual and I'm not a fan of autofocua - to me it seems like cheating... anyway, 5 shots to catch up (3 days but 5 shots....)
I also have a bit of a soft spot for limited run coins, so here's a couple that I've had in the past few weeks. I decided that I'd take photos of them instead of saying I'll hold onto them indefinately and accidently spending them anyway

Very nice coins Natelie! and I love the texture you have captured on the ropes.

Any luck finding a mule 20p to photograph?

*wahoo!!!* I got a street picture. Not what I'd planned though!

I tried to capture the moon earlier and made a right pigs ear of it. Later it started to snow. Now my wheelchair is in for service and the loan chair, well to be frank I don't trust it at all and it's awful! So I daren't go outside really. So I'd been going to the door in it, but no further and hubby was with me so we went to the gate and up the street a bit, with the assurance that if I needed to, I could use the manual wheelchair. 1" of snow, one single inch and the damn thing got stuck! I wasn't happy!

Anyway, like a true nutter, I got my pic :D

Never say I'm not dedicated!

Well done - I do indeed admire your dedication and it has paid off with a very nice shot!

I really like this shot, well done, its seems to have an element of warmth, despite the snow!

The nicest street shot I have seen nice and plain, simple with lots of character.

You got Snow?
Cracking picture, it works well

love it Natt really do like it just a pity about the bins but then again it adds to it..

now a question, do you use any filters on your night shots??? can you give some info on settings used for this please?

thanks natt

Terri

I know, I thought about cloning them out but then thought that it wouldn't be so real then (but I did make sure that you couldn't read the address on the sticker if you zoomed in!)

No filters, 20 second shutter speed, ISO 100 and f18.

Nothing special, honest ;)

thank you that helps alot i am up in those hours alot and never really new how to do it gonna have to try..
