MagicMynx and her 2010 ... no longer a photo a day!

i love your street pic
shame about the stinky bins though

loving the street picture
you really nailed the exposure (and the focus for that matter!)

had me fooled
I wasn't sure if that was a street light or you'd carefully positioned the moon!

Thank you. I'm quite chuffed with it but not as chuffed as the one I took a few weeks ago that's similar.

LadySue, what settings are you using when you have street lights - and are you using a tripod? If the camera is still and on a long shutter speed it should go into a burst....unless you're on a bridge and someone is jumping up and down on the bridge making the damn thing shake like hubby was the first time I tried a night shot

YV - you're welcome to have the snow hun  sick of the stuff now...and glad you realised I'm a nutter ;)

Inspired by the macro valentines shots in the macro section and in search of a suitable image to submit for a competition (you win chocolate!!!) this was one of the images that I came up with (not what is entered into the competition, but similar).

Love is...

Blimey!

Here's me trying to keep up with a 52 and there are you doing a 365 incorporating a 52!

I think your street scene is great. It obviously pays off to be a nutter:)
I'm still at the stage where I feel I'm really pushing things if I go to 2 seconds. But 20 seconds?

I agree with wilmorh regarding the warmth of the scene. I also find it very peaceful.

And my wife has just looked over my shoulder and commented on what a lovely shot it is.

Aw thanks Rob - and Rob's wife :D

Really Rob, just put your camera on a tripod (or something that isn't going to move) and put a long shutter speed on with an aperture with a high number, just play around ;) Obviously it needs to be focusing on something still. Night shots become fairly bright over long exposures. You'll be loving long exposures in no time. What I like is that you can get still life shots without having to use flash or other lights and stuff like that.

Night shots are beautiful, really hope to get some more soon, They're very relaxing to do, cause no one is around, so there is no hustle and bustle, just peace and quiet, you and your camera ;) it's like magic.

Well done Nat! I agree that the street shot's not quite got the same magic as the first one you did, but it's still a damn good shot
I'm hoping that we get more snow. Since you posted your first one I've been desperate to try something similar.

And you must be mad going out in that in a wonky loan chair . . . that's real dedication!

The macro stuff that you're doing lately is fantastic. That dried bark is gorgeous and there's a huge improvement in your latest coin shots.

Hi Nattelie - I don't know how I've missed your thread for so long, but I'm so glad I've finally found it. It is AWESOME! - not just the photos (brilliant though they are) but your determination, dedication and creativity are amazing. :notworthy:

I love bright colours too - and this really cheers up a dull, miserable morning.

Jean

Loving the 'street' Nat - I am just flipping glad all the snow has gawne!

Love Is - You can really see improvement in your macro skill Nat - I really like the sentiment and the shot - I like the way that it is slightly off level too. Are you going to get it made into a card for Valentines?

Bright Colours - Stunning. My fave shot of yours so far! So effective and simply awesome. Almost makes me want to eat them as sweets.

Top Job Nat!

Thank you Jean. Glad you found my thread too!

Thank you Matt.

I'm not getting the shot made into a Valentines card, LOL, hubby and I don't celebrate Valentines Day - the first one together is special, but after that it's just blatently falling into commercialism.

I did a similar shot for a competition though, using our wedding rings, quite chuffed with it, so I'll show it after the competition is over ;)

You know, on my blog I made a page of just the shots for January, it's kinda scary but really cool how my photography has changed in just a month!

Lovely, another bright cheerful shot to cheer up a dull day. :) I like the shallow dof and wonder why you're not so sure. The strongest texture, though (for me!) is the lilac ribbon, so perhaps more emphasis on that would tick the box for you.

But I love it just the way it is - and I can see your thread is going to be addictive. :)

Jean

love your street scene nat, the warmth even though its been snowing and am also a fan of starbursts on night lights..

excellent macro shots, you are becoming an expert at them!.. love the vivid colours my fave is the buttons shot!

Another bright one this morning (for yesterdays shot) :D

Friday and it's just dawned on me that I haven't attempted speed yet - guess that's a reflection on how my week is going!

I think (or at least hope...) that my photos are starting to look like proper photos and not snapshots now.

I love your poetry shot. The composition works really well with the curve of the rosary.

I'm not sure I get your speed shot though!

gorgeous kitty, look at those whiskers!.. very impressive..

like the rosary shot, nicely focused

Poor cat, you waking it up just to get a pictures. :D F29 on the religious one, havnt seen a photo that high in ages, its come out really sharp as well. Good idea with it well done.

Thanks 23rd Man.

The poetry one is one of my favourites for last month.

I'm not surprised that you don't "get" my speed one - I haven't done it yet  - my fault though for where I wrote that line, just brain fog ;)

Makes sense now! :D

Natt.. you stole my cat i want her back please..lol she looks just like mine.

the rosary one is stunning really like that.. nice and sharp.. well done mrs

Really liking the religious entry Nat. Framing is really nice and the focus and DOF are spot on.

Good work that lady!

Cat Ball - wassat inside it?

LOL Terri, there's loads that are her spitting image around, it's scary! We nearly ended up with one that looked exactly the same as her but thought it would be waaaay too confusing

Been a bix lax on my 365 this weekend, just having a few things going crazy in my personal life, boring I know. Anyway, I crafted a little bit over the weekend, pretty crap shot, but here's some unity candles that I decorated for a stall for a wedding event at Church (it's national Marriage week this week, so this weekend there's a little stall full of wedding things!) Will most likely reshoot it today or tomorrow with a slow shutter speed and possibly black backdrop.

candleswm.jpg

Nice candles Nattelie! And with all this snow they are rather fitting!

Hope everything has calmed down now with you and all is well again?

M

Thanks, things should be better after this week is out of the way  thanks for asking.

They're unity candles - lit in wedding ceromonies, not sure which denominations and religions definately use them, other than Catholic weddings. Just a symbolic thing for two seperate families coming together to form a third family. Really sweet if you're a softie like me

Another snapshot really. My niece wants to make a colourful basket of roses, she's just a little 'un and is coming up to see me after school as I'm under strict instructions (for her) to help her. She's a little princess, bless her, with a heart of gold.

So, I painted some wooden roses bright colours ready for her and painted a little basket, putting bright coloured ribbon around the handle. These are the roses in the basket, cut down to size, just ready for her to decorate the basket and arrange the flowers properly with oasis.

Wow! Cool flowers Nat! The colours are blinding!

What happened to the flash in that last one? Needs to be a little more even, but the black BG is spot on
