Sadly these days it's getting harder to buy food that isn't low fat.
Today I was looking for my usual yogurt but they didn't have any. They had "Zero Fat," "Low Fat" and "Virtually No Fat." This annoys me and it has annoyed me for some time and reminded me that a while ago I had to give up buying a range of vegetarian pies and stuff because they changed the recipe to "low fat" and they were just awful, horrible and inedible. At the time and just for fun and to ease my annoyance I emailed the company and I was surprised to get a reply the gist of which was that they'd had so many complaints that the stuff was horrible that they were now going to review the recipe. As compensation they sent me some coupons. Great. Coupons for inedible horrible food. That range is now absent from the shelves so I suppose they just gave up on it, such a shame as I used to enjoy the pies before they banjaxed the recipe.
Anyway. Today, just in case there was any of my yogurt in the store room I asked but was told it was dropped a couple of weeks ago and the only non low fat one they carried now was a Greek style one. The staff member went on to tell me about a customer who for medical reasons had to have the full fat stuff but couldn't get any and that it's just getting harder to get these days.
What a shame it is that the good full fat tasty stuff is being removed from the shelves presumably because of the epidemic of people who can't stop piling the weight on. I too have a weight problem in that I have to eat to maintain my weight and if I don't eat nutritious full fat stuff I lose weight and yet I increasingly find tasty full fat food replaced by bland or even worse horrible tasting low fat stuff.
Surely there's room on a supermarket shelf somewhere for some good full fat yogurt, pies, beans, ice cream, crisps, chocolate and all of the stuff that's disappearing from the shops for us people who aren't obese and who want tasty food to eat as a part of a healthy balanced diet? Maybe security guards could stand guard to turn the chubby away and make sure that only us skinny people get access.
I suppose I'm in a tiny minority and therefore don't matter to the low fat fascists.
PS. I make my own pies and pasties now and everyone says how lovely they are. They are lovely and made with lots of full fat butter while I can still get it.
