We got a call this afternoon from the woman who looks after one of our horses to say that she was in the field with Orangegrove (Orange for short) when she dropped down dead in front of her, no warning, no distress, nothing. The vet seems to think it was either a massive heart attack or brain hemorrhage (sp?) and obviously Jan is devastated.

What makes it worse is that she was in foal to a top notch stallion so technically we've lost two today. :(

ah noooo!!! Sorry to hear that mate, I know exactly how attached they (we!!) get to them :(

Thats very sad news Colin, thoughts for you and Jan..

**** Colin, I am very sorry to read this and I feel for you. We, well... my poor wife, lost a horse in a tragic road accident once (she was knocked off it!!) and I know how attached one gets to these beautiful animals.

Sorry about this news.

Sorry to hear that :shake:, this must be very traumatising for your friend to witness happening so suddenly in front of her, and for you of course.

I'm really sorry about your news, thoughts go out to you all

That's awful, very sorry to hear that

Really sorry to hear that devastating news :(, I know you and your wife have done awesomely well in looking after and caring for them.

At least it was quick and she didn't suffer.

Keep up the good work, I'm sure Orange really appreciated all you did for her

Sheeesh, sorry to hear that. Don't be afraid to let a few tears go if you need to.

:( Oh Colin, so, so, so sorry to hear that :( (((hugs))) for you both.

Really sorry to hear about what has happened. I know how you are feeling as I been through this twice last year with my friends pony and my sisters horse. My thoughts are with you.

Sad news. At least it was quick and without suffering.

Thanks everyone, as has been said at least it was quick.

That sucks mate. Are you getting a full autopsy done to determine cod?

I think that is being done today.

Really sorry for you loss :(

Appreciate your comments. The post mortem was carried out today and it was a massive heart attack, apparently there was some 'damage' to the left side of the heart and it could have happened at any time.

C'est la vie.

Sending you big hugs, very sorry to hear:(
