I heat my house with logs, scrap wood etc. but I have my own supply, to buy a trailer load of logs can be very expensive cancelling out any expected savings.
Also depending on what type of stove you have there is a "knack" to burning the wood efficiently for example if it is a closed stove, regulating the amount of air you feed it with the setting of the flue, get it wrong and you either burn it too quickly or you starve it of air and the fire goes out.
I would imagine a lot of effort would go into making these "paper logs" add to that the space needed to dry them out and the time it takes to dry them out.I can't imagine them lasting very long neither. I have always regarded these as a waste of time, although someone on here may have used them before and may say they are ok.
If you were to use scrap wood there would be the problem of where to get it from in decent quantities and cutting it up into small enough lengths again a lot of effort needed.
I would not advise you popping in to B&Q for a chainsaw, these are dangerous tools in the wrong hands :shake:.
