Need one for my recently converted Gas to Wood Domestic Fire place. :)

Any idea where can I get it within surrey?

Try a neighbours skip, they're usually a good source !!

I heat my house with logs, scrap wood etc. but I have my own supply, to buy a trailer load of logs can be very expensive cancelling out any expected savings.

Also depending on what type of stove you have there is a "knack" to burning the wood efficiently for example if it is a closed stove, regulating the amount of air you feed it with the setting of the flue, get it wrong and you either burn it too quickly or you starve it of air and the fire goes out.

I would imagine a lot of effort would go into making these "paper logs" add to that the space needed to dry them out and the time it takes to dry them out.I can't imagine them lasting very long neither. I have always regarded these as a waste of time, although someone on here may have used them before and may say they are ok.

If you were to use scrap wood there would be the problem of where to get it from in decent quantities and cutting it up into small enough lengths again a lot of effort needed.

I would not advise you popping in to B&Q for a chainsaw, these are dangerous tools in the wrong hands :shake:.

Try the cheap alternative - tell all your friends you have a wood burner.

You'll be surprised by the number of offers for wood you get. One of the guys I work for did that and he bought a small amount once in 5 years!

Thats a good idea !

I regularly have burns in my back garden, all I have to do is let a few mates know about it and they all turn up with bootfulls of wood.

Take the dog for long walks in the woods.

A quick google using firewood surrey came up with quite a few depending on your exact location

Thanks Guys and Gals for all your advice. Got a guy delivering loose 100 logs for 18 quids in mixed wood. Burning a couple of them as we speak and they seem nice. :)
