Lightroom 4 very slow

I have just come across this on another forum. I have no need to try it myself, but for those of you experiencing speed problems it could be worth a go.

^^^ Has anybody tried this? I had a go yesterday but got stuck half way (I'm totally computer illiterate) so aborted :(

I find Jonathan's fix of importing into LR4 then switching to PV2010 is only a partial speed solution after all.

Then I had a nightware session last night. Uploading a stack of pics from my 5D2 was fine, if slow, then a similar set of about 400 images from a 5D3 would not unpload (mostly JPEGs, as I was shooting longish 6fps sequences). I got the message 'could not rename files' whatever that means and basically I had nothing but low-res thumbnails. Then I put the card back in the camera and it said 'no images'!!! Suspecting this was a lie, put the card in my 5D2 and there they all were (thank ****).

The 5D3 then had a fit, camera locked up, busy light flashing like mad. Took battery out and tried again, all fine. I then took a few more pics and messed about uploading from both cameras, and then as if by magic at the fifth attempt with the 400-odd 5D3 files, they all uploaded

This looks more like a camera issue to me, but what do I know! Either way I'm not enjoying LR4 with a Canon 5D3 at all - and it should be a dream team :(

PS A mate is having no probs with LR4, though he does have a very high spec machine. The point seems though that some people are having problems and others aren't, regardless of machine spec.

Yes, seemingly without rhyme or reason which is what makes it weird. I never get why it generally runs lie a dog on my MBP (brand new,i7, 8GB) and runs fine most of the time on my Mac Pro(Quad Core, 8GB) when the MBP is a slightly higher spec.

Its soooooo bad on my MBP I had to stop shooting tethered earlier, reshoot a bunch of stuff and generally look a bit of an arse infront of a client. Its fair to say I'm pretty ****ed off with it right now
