Anyone know when they'll be back in stock with the SmartFlash range?

Spoke today, almost out of Elites too, shipment at Felixtowe docks.

Good question, but the answer isn't quite as easy as I'd like...

They have arrived and are currently sitting in Customs but, from a phone conversation I had yesterday, it seems that there is a delay. I hope to know more later today.

Shouldn't be long though - at least I hope not, as we've nearly run out of the ElitePro too...

Ah ok, shouldn't be long. Where are these made then?

Why not call them?

Because I might not be the only person waiting, this way anyone else waiting can see the answer here and leave Garry alone to drive down to Suffolk hehe

I'll be leaving other people to sort this out and drive to Felixtowe:)

Anyone know? I thought the warehouse was south England and the outlet was north England - maybe I've become confused though? Or is the warehouse out of stock also?

I understand that the case and rear panel is lifted from Junbei, but the rest of it is supposed to be German and Japanese parts. I was just wondering where the assembly happened as I'm guessing it's not in the UK seeing as it's stuck at a port in the UK.

No big deal, although a little uneasy now at the lack of rapid responses one usually gets. :suspect: I'm wondering what happens if there's a problem with the equipment - is it fixed in the UK or somewhere far away?

I'm not sure what this means. The office is in E. Yorkshire, I'm in W. Yorkshire and the warehouse is in Basingstoke. All goods are of course despatched from the warehouse.

I don't know what you mean by lack of rapid response, but repairs are carried out in the UK, at the Lencarta workshop, but normally goods within the warranty period are just exchanged - no waiting that way.

from what gary says everything (casings/machinings/production) is the same as jibei flashes (they sell the same lencarta bags but with dif tags) but the electronics are meant to be different inside....

To clear up David's confusion...
The lights are assembled by Jinbei to Lencarta's spec. The casings and control panels are supplied by Jinbei, flash tubes, capacitors etc are not. Some of the accessories are manufactured by Jinbei, some are not.

So basically its a custom unit *made by jinbei to lencarta's spec.

*made is used in the sense of it collects all the parts irrespective of who makes them, jinbei then assembles them to the spec.

Done the world over in all sorts of electronic equipment.

isn't that what I said? They make the flashes and machine the parts, the electrronic components would be bought in for either sort

Cheers for the reply, I'm not all that bothered about the assembly ins and outs as if the product is good then it doesn't really matter!

Rapid response comment is because as soon as someone mentions Lencarta there's always a very fast reply by someone or another but my question appears to have been ignored as if it weren't a question that was liked. No big deal either, just found it interesting that's all.

How's it looking btw as it seems nothing is in stock now  Or are the lads at HMR&C wanting a brown envelope? lol

Sometimes this place is like reading the Sun, build them up and then for no reason swipe them down.:nono:

I'm not following you?

As for stock, I prefer the system that's currently being used - that being not allowing me to buy until they are back in stock. Although it's a little frustrating it's also honest, which is important to me with online buying.

Any news with the stock?

But that's not much good is there're often supply problems

TBH it's the main reason, when I was looking for portable lighting, I didn't go with them as they're regularly out of stock, not much good if something breaks and you need quick replacement.

That isn't actually the problem you think it is. Running out of stock is a problem and it's a problem that shouldn't happen - I not only accept that but I say it too...

But it doesn't affect repairs. Firstly because although any items in need of repair are usually exchanged, they are then repaired and are available for the next customer who has a problem, and secondly because the last items in stock are always kept back in case of need, they are never sold.

There are 5 containers, some are now at the warehouse and others are on the way. I expect everything to be booked in and ready for despatch by Wednesday (latest)

Garry, any update on that issue I sent you a PM about?

Ah well, I'm afraid I need lighting gear for a Monday shoot so I've ordered elsewhere now, was taking a little too long for Mr Impatient here! Not to worry though, perhaps another time. Thanks for the feedback etc though.

Cheers. :)

thats what pro suppliers are for, when you need something fast, systems insight have had me media at 9AM when I ordered it after 4 the day before because of a screw up, Calumet have saved my ass in a similar way :D

Does anyone own the Lencarta Background Support and could comment about it's quality and quality for the money?

I have the Lencarta Air Cushioned Light Stand and think that's excellent quality, does anyone know who it may compare in quality to the background stands?

Not to be pedantic but does that mean the first person who needs replacement (and there is stock) gets a new one but the next might (if no new stock) get a repaired previously returned item?

I have it and think it's very robust, no complaints at all.
In fact a few people commented on it at the Southend studio meet at the weekend, fell free to ask any of them for an unbiased opinion. :)

No, it means that in the very unlikely event that quite a lot of customers all have a problem with the same model at the same time, Lencarta might run out of replacement items and would have to send a loan item.

But as that's never happened in the past, there's no reason to think it will in the future.

I use one, and its a very solid robust bit of kit

What widths can you have this set at? 3m is too large for most instances, so would be looking to cut it down in size to less than 2m.

its a 3 section pole, so you can remove one section, and have it set narrower. I dont know the measurement off hand, and as this place is a building site, it would take me a hour to retrieve it and put them together (assume its approx.. 2M)

Looks like most of the Lencarta Kit is back in stock. Just ordered me a background stand.

I just got mine to...with a whole buch of liggghhhtttss!! :D

Garry will be out of stock again then very soon LOL. Plenty of packing for him or the Lencarta team to get all the goodies shipped asap. Stop watches at the ready, go, go, go (in a Murry Walker style)....

Nah, Garry will do us proud and get these out of the door and delivered to us n Friday. After all, we've been waiting in all day for the website to update so we can order them as quickly as possible, and Garry's a good guy and likes to please his customers (hint, hint), LOL.
