Just seen the very sad news. He found out he had Cancer on the 26th Dec, and died two days later.
I can't say I'm a fan of his music, and found him quite scary as a child, but a real character of Rock 'n' Roll has passed. I watched a documentary about him earlier in the year, and he was a very interesting person, and not as scary as I imagined as a child.

He seemed to do things his own way, and there will be many stories of exploits I'm sure, as the documentary only scratched the surface.
He was an avid collector on knives and militaria amongst other things according to the documentary. He was estranged from his son growing, but had forged a relationship in latter years. There is an amazingly touching moment the doc, when with his son sitting beside him, he is asked what was the most important thing in his home was, and I think the intention was to find out what he valued in his collection, but without batting an eye he said 'my son'. The look on his son's face was very touching as he obviously didn't expect that answer.
Now I said I wasn't a fan of his music, but, The Ace of Spades will stand the test of time as truly classic song. And I'm sure every musician would like a song to be remembered long after they are gone, and for Lemmy, and Motorhead, that song will be remembered forever.
If you get the chance to see the documentary please do, as it is a very good one.
