legal question re picture

I lickened it to taking the Virgin logo and sticking it on Photobucket doesn't mean it's free for anyone to use!

You pointed out exactly the right thing there.

I was trying to figure out his logic in replying to Getty by telling them that other people were using the same image without a licence like it was going to make them go away.

Maybe I should have stuck a big  smiley at the end of it.

eh? Why does there being a copy of the image on Photobucket mean anything? It doesn't magically lose its copyright because its on an image hosting site, especially one which anyone can upload anything to... :cuckoo:

Sigh, all he was/is doing is trying to show them how it happened and how he was innocently using an image that belonged to their site, he's just proving that no malice or theft was intended as it wasn't gleaned from a Getty site, he's just communicating and trying to see if they will be reasonable rather than rolling over..

so he's not met many lawyers then!

don't get me wrong, if you look back in the thread you'll see I don't think Getty are going about things in the right way, but I don't believe that attempting to appeal to reason or common sense will get anywhere once the money-grabbers have been unleased... :shake::shake:
