That's well taken Tim. I've tried steam/mist and failed miserably. You'll have to give me a clue about settings.

Thanks Mark.Nice one Tim I like that
Ta. I was quite pleased with it, it's an unusual angle.I did at least know it was a safety valve and a lovely shot of one too.
Ta @d00d Not sure if it's my train shot of the year, I prefer the one for technology, but I do like it for the variety in the shot.Train shot of the year.Clearly interesting FG detail plus green wheels in BG ... smoke, steam ... a beaut.
I don't think I did anything particularly special, just a fast enough shutter to freeze some of the steam (the jet of steam is being ejected at high pressure)That's well taken Tim. I've tried steam/mist and failed miserably. You'll have to give me a clue about settings.![]()
Thanks Paul.Simple - nicely captured Tim! Interesting subject and technically accomplished to convert it from the eye to the screen... brill!![]()
Thanks JillLovely shot for Simple

Looks good to me TimThe TZ8 only shoots jpg, so the sky is actually a composite bringing the image back to what the eye could see, but the camera couldn't capture.
To be fair, the left hand side of the post is straight, but there is sufficient distortion that all the other verticals are off though. You are correct, not a great image
For me being honest, not upright, exposure a bit iffy, DoF too deep etc... but theme wise spot on of course, and actually love these signs when done by the local schools![]()
I wanted trees rather than semis behind the sign and managed it to a fair extent.Hi Tim ....love the kids addition to that sign, what a good idea, I've not seen one like that before. Maybe a different composition would be better, but it fits the theme perfectly.
Ahhhh good point...To be fair, the left hand side of the post is straight, but there is sufficient distortion that all the other verticals are off though.
And achieving a shallow DoF with the TZ8's sensor is erm, challenging...
But it's not my greatest shot![]()
maybe you could have stood on a box to be move level

You should have seen the first couple of attemptsHi Tim
Sign is simple but I really like it ... never have guessed the sky was fake.![]()
The beauty of RAW CarlThat's nicely taken Tim - I always struggle not to blow the sky when handling vastly contrasting levels like this. Really like that striking bright red and all those rivets.![]()
Thanks Chris.Like the shine/reflections on the loco and the details, well caught
That's certainly an imposing engine Tim!
Nice PoV and colourful with it.
That's an unusual looking train engine. You done exceptionally well with the dark engine foreground against the bright sky background
Size ... a big one I'm sure with its blunt front end. The signs on the front suggest size, but they're not easy to read.
Must admit Tim, strange looking locomotive but the theme suits this well, I like the reflection on the left hand side
Interesting comments on the loco.
It's a tank engine running in reverse and not particularly large (though I suppose the low PoV does make it look quite large)
The signs on the end, @d00d are simply warnings about overhead wires (as this loco would have run under the wires whilst in British Railways employ).
You've all seen this loco before, week 7 using a pinhole camera

Thanks Mark. It's the PoV that makes it look different. Some great detail in there TIm it looks a slightly odd engine with the angled sides
I guess regardless of the size you thought it was, it fits 'size' as a themeNice capture Tim, although not understanding the subject it doesn't scream "small" to me. I assumed before reading that it was bigNicely shot mind.
I will educate the lot of you in the ways of the railwayand I said front end when I'm looking at her rear, just shows how much I know about trains.![]()
