The TP52 - 2026 LC2's Shoe Horns for 2026: Week 12 - Daily Life

That would be telling

The Fashion models are (usually) organised by the designer Pierre Garroudi, it's a weekly event up in town.
The Cosplay models are usually friends / people I know in the Comic Con scene.

Ah ok. Just interesting as you don’t see this sort of stuff happening in Solihull town centre lol

You never know, There must be some models and designers in the Birmingham area.
It just needs someone enterprising to get it going.

You also have the NEC just up the road, which holds at least 4 Comic Con events that I can think of (perhaps more).

I’ve never been to comic con. Can you just turn up with a ticket and camera then?

I’ve no idea about fashion or models at all. Wouldn’t even know where to start.

Pretty much, yes. There is an etiquette that you need to follow, which can be summed up by the statement "Cosplay is not Consent".
MegaCon have this guidance:
You'll usually find a photography page/section on the web sites for the event (some will have restrictions such as no flash, or no tripods / light stands etc.)

But basically, be nice, be respectful, always ask first, and share your photos with the cosplayer.

Lovely shots Tim, glad you kept them all as a triptych.

Love the framing and pose in the first shot of the three, but then again I would have been saying "what windows". :)

Nice one or three, bit more interesting than the average door shot. Not sure about the hat

That's a bit different and I like it.
I do like triptychs, they're a good way of telling a story.

Always nice to see a triptych - works well
Ta
As above it works well as a triptych.

Cheers
A tryptych works nicely for the theme Tim. I like the poses too.
:)

It was a deliberate choice to have the shot at an angle, which I think makes it stand out from the other two.

Or the poor cat who donated their skellington.
That's a bit different and I like it.

And yet somehow I did manage to stay more or less on theme !

Good choice of format, I like that and works well for the theme. I certainly struggled to meet the strict definition of plural door and window.

Week Four - Something Broken

Having procrastinated over this theme all week, I finally decided that my front gate, which has seen better days, would do as a PABD for the theme.

But then I looked up, and it would seem that the street light outside our house has evidently broken and needed some work - So this is my image for the theme instead.
It's a considerable crop in as I only had the 24-70 on the camera, and even at 70 this was quite small in the frame. I guess this is where a 45mp R5ii would win out over the 26mp R6ii for cropability, but hey. The shot was got.

Both work for the theme - I do like the first image also, just something about it

Two good images for the theme and I rather like the first one.

There is a certain simplicity in the first image, but I didn't feel there was anything interesting about it - hence PABD.
#2 isn't brilliant either, but I felt it was more interesting.
It does show how much the sensors have come along since the 7D. Can you imagine the noise the sky would have produced :runaway:

Nice post Tim :)

Fits the theme, are you finding reasons to get a 45mp R5ii by any chance :)

I like both images Tim, although I had a moment before I realised what I was looking at in your chosen image.

The gate image is my preference - I like the colours.

Gate for me as well, though I keep looking at those hinges not being in the middle :)

Good take on the theme Tim. I think that you chose the right one.

Hah no, my XT5 meets my high mp needs (and I much prefer it to the Canon). The R6ii is just there to exercise my old EF lenses and for when I really need the low light capabilities of FF - at which point 26mp is preferable to 45mp for the lower pixel density.

It took me a moment to figure out what was happening too ;)

The colours are more appealing than greys of the second shot I agree, but the activity in the second shot felt more on theme.

Haha

Ta.

Fix your gate you lazy....:muted:
The cross piece got thrown away when we were clearing some rubbish following some refurbishment indoors.
It gives it a more rustic feel ;)

Week Five - Rainy Day

I took my new OM TG-7 out for a walk on a damp/rainy Monday.
TBH it's not great at action given you don't have manual or shutter priority modes, but it didn't do a terrible job of capturing this. It did take a number of attempts to catch something I liked. I do wonder what the bus drivers thought I was doing.

For clarity, there is a width restriction at this point so there is no option to miss the puddle, and most of the drivers slowed even more than this one. There was no one close to here so there was no danger of anyone getting soaked.

Red bus and big splash - winner!

Great shot Tim, I've been the recipient of those tidal waves before.

:)
Good job capturing the action.
Would have been better with something I could set the shutter speed on, but it just about works.

Nice wide pavement there, so it can be avoided.
Health & safety duly noted great shot though
Heh
That about sums up the weather around this way also. Right on theme
It does. Nasty pothole there too, probably caused by the weather.
Nice shot of the red bus in action but where is the reg plate
Edited out to protect the innocent.
Good shot! Glad you didn't get too close Tim!
I made sure to position myself at a dry(ish) spot.

Nice. Perfectly timed, and I like the boldness of the bus against how dull the surroundings are.

Great splash! Love the bright colours of the bus, the icing on the cake would be someone getting splashed but then that would be a bad day for them.
