Where are the laptops with CF card and sim card slots?
Which laptop is that?I have never seen a laptop with a CF card slot for years.............I do have a laptop with a sim card slot
Very hard, been retired by most if not all in favour of express card or nothing.I think I might still have an old PCMCIA card that accepts CF.
Finding a laptop that still supports PCMCIA though may be a tad hard.
And you forget looking good, lightweight and portable yadda yadda. Is there a gap in the market that could be filled by a niche manufacturer / reseller?
For photographers, surely the ideal solution could be a laptop which:
1. Has a high resolution screen which can be calibrated
2. Has hdmi out (dont they all now?) for display on an external screen
3. Has CF / SD / MicroSD / XF slots to accept cards from a wide range of cameras
4. Decent Battery life
5. Large drive plus a second spindle to guard against drive failure.
6. Yadda Yadda... High spec to run CC etc. quickly.
I suspect you can get most of this seperately (not the card support though), but has anyone seen all of this in a portable solution?
Heh, me too (the card reader). And you forget looking good, lightweight and portable yadda yadda.
Maybe I'm alone, but I carry a laptop bag anyway, and in that is a tiny little usb3 device which is called a card reader.
Everything else is just a standard top end laptop.
Personally I wouldn't like laptops that have build in optical media...I would class them as luggable less so portable....The space that is required for such an absolute medium is ridiculous in my opinion....Most workstation level laptops have dual drives but as they add weight it's not normally a standard feature on lighter machines. It's easy enough to switch out the internal DVD drive with a HDD caddy on most laptops too.
