I've run out of space on my time capsule, so I'm looking for something with more space for my backups. As it will only be connected to my iMac I don't need the wireless aspect, which was great when I had a laptop, but seems to be a bottle neck with my iMac.
As I'm going wired I'd like to get the full benefit of the increased speed, so I'm thinking FireWire 800 (my iMac is the one before they implemented thunderbolt) and 7200rpm drives, the two drives that seem to meet these requirements are LaCie D2 Quadra and G-Tech G-Drive. Does anyone have experience of either of these drives? Or indeed recommendations for other models.
