Does anyone have experience of Kinesis long lens cases with back-pack system?
I've been using a ThinkTank Glass Taxi for sometime and can carry my 500 and a 1D in it without problem. It's great as a small bag and quite discrete. The only problem is that it doesn't fit with the lens and body connected together, meaning you have to assemble the kit when you get to your destination.
This is normally fine but a trip to Donna Nook at the start of the month nearly led to disaster. I didn't want to open the front of the 1D out on the beach and so assembled the body and lens in the car park. I carried them out fine just handheld but was so tired on the way back, I managed to drop lens and body in the swampy sea/sand on the way back. I was so cold and tired I just felt the lens handle slip through my fingers. No real harm done, just a worrying journey home and then taking the camera and lens into the shower!
So, I've been looking for a bag that is a good size to house a 500 f/4 attatched to a 1D, either with or without teleconverters fitted. The best looking one I have seen looks like the Kenesis L511 with additional backing system.
Before I part with my cash, does anyone have any experience of this bags and are they recommended?
Thanks
Paul
