Kelly's 52.09- Wk 6 - Special now included

A very nice picture Kelack, very Warhol. :D

I would love to know how you got the background in if you have time to explain.

With blood, sweat and tears and shouting at the computer -. Basically it's a white frame around each pitcure pasted on to a square. Probably not the most technical of ways to do it and I'm sure someone else will have a better way. Thanks for the comments

Lovely warm colours, and what a nice surprise. I like the way you've done that

Thank you very much :oD

That's a terrific picture. I love the colours and how you've arranged them. The flowers look pretty cool, too. I nearly used flowers for the 'Surprise' theme and I'm so glad I didn't - they wouldn't have been half as creative at yours.

Jean

Thanks Jean, I think so far, this one is my best shot

Love your Surprise shot, great colours, very sharp and well captured :clap:

Mind if I was given flowers I'd probably use them for a Shock theme :naughty:

 Thanks for your comments :oD

really liking the surprise shot, lovely colours and fantastic presentation :)

Thanks for your comments Ruth

I have Yv to thank for this as well as she gave me some helpful advice when I went into a flat spin with the photos. So thank you Yvonne :oD

Original, colourful and interesting and yes flowers are a lovely surprise (although I don't think I've ever received any :D)

Cleverly done too! Almost like a flowery noughts and crosses :)

Like it! :D

 Just noticed that, thanks for your comments John :D

I love the colours and the multi-image set up of this - its great  What lens did you use?

Oh - if you use photoshop (elements or CS) then you can download a script that will autogenerate a panel for you. I'm not sure whether you can get the white border inside the black background as I havent tested it. But if it doesnt do quite what you want, then pm cowasaki and he will more than likely alter the script to do what you want :).

Anyway - download it from this thread:
http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=107056

Version 2.1 is what you want and there is a manual to go with it. The 'panel.js' script is the one that makes a panel :)

Lovely colourful flower surprise very nicely presented. Great interpretation

Thanks for your comments, I seem to remember I used my 18-200mm Sigma for that one. Thanks for the advice for the script as well

Lovely colourful flower surprise very nicely presented. Great interpretation

Thanks very much :D

Week 5 - Opposites

Mmmmm, so many different things I could do for this one but thought I would do this.....

Healthy/Unhealty......Cooked/Raw........from the ground/from animals.......

Wk_5_-_Opposites.JPG

What did I learn? That it tasted lovely in a pitta bread once I'd got the picture and not to take too long taking the pictures as it goes cold quick :D

I am sooo glad that when you went down the cooked/raw road that you dicided to cook the egg.

It does look very tasty and a nice clear shot.

wel done :clap::clap:

Catch up time...

I missed your Surprise shot (sorry) :'(

But now that I've seen it I think it was worth the wait...that is excellent...and what a beautiful composition...

As for the Opposites...Mmmmmmm...what is it with the ladies on here with food...

That looks sooooooo nice I'm going to have a late night snack...

Another great interpretation....well done...I love it...

Great composition and colour and right for the theme. The only suggestion I have is to ask if it would be improved by reducing the shadows a bit with a reflector? Nice strong image, well done.

Hmmm mmmm,.... Just had lunch, and I'm hungry again now. Excellent shot and love the colours.

Love that opposites shot Kelly, making me hungry!

Cheers, definitely going to have this one in a reshoot :D

Thanks for your comments, yes, the shadows did bug me, I moved the spotlights round and round, will have to put a nice lilttle reflector on my wish list :D

Thanks for your comments, I've just had a thought, as I didn't have a reflector, I could have made one with tin foil and a round chopping board :bang::lol:

Thanks for your comments, husband had one too adn it was yum :D

Tasty shot :naughty: and an inventive take on opposites. Gets  from me.

Thank you for your comment, I had the idea as soon as the theme was set and couldn't wait for the weekend to have it for brunch :D No food wastage in our house

Surprise - Love the multi panel treatment of the flowers, I also like the way you've cropped some of the petals off on each one to focus on the form. I would be slightly tempted to flip the some of the images vertically and/or horizontally so they appear as if they are different images.

Opposites - The idea is good and definitely fits the theme. For some reason I don't like looking at it and when I do for a long period it makes me feel a bit sick :cuckoo:. However, I can see that the photo is technically good (apart from the shadows you've already identified) you appear to be getting the hang of that light box .

Thanks Simon, I didn't think of that actually, I did wonder if it would lok a bit samey but couldn't think how to make it different :cuckoo::lol:

Sorry it makes you sick :(:(:( It tasted very nice though. It wasn't in the lightbox this time though, just on a white tile with the spotlights looking down on it.

Sorry, I've only just seen your Opposites - but it makes me feel very hungry and I could just eat it right now!

It's a lovely colourful shot and just a piece of white card would have lifted the shadow - just until you get a pukka reflector, of course. :) Lots of opposites contained in it too.

You must have worked very quickly to get this looking so fresh - and still edible. Well done.

Jean

Don't worry it's my problem I'm sure I'm a bit odd :cuckoo: I can imagine it did taste very nice, especially if it was smoked bacon.

Nope unsmoked - sorry!!! :D

Great idea and a nice sharp shot with good colour and detail :)

Thank you :D

Loving the opposites excellent idea - well taken :)

Thanks :D

It was straight out of the pan. Thanks for your comments :D

Thanks Jamlid :D:D:D

A little late but I had a great photo of the rugby on Saturday which fitted with the Special theme - Vigo RFC are special to me, I've grown up in that rugby club but then Sunday I felt I needed something to reflect the week that I'd had.

My Grandad was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer and Lewy Body Disease over a year ago and sadly passed away last Monday from the Lewy Body Disease - very peacefully and with dignity. My Grandad was always a very proud man and I will miss him dearly as will all our family. So Sunday, I decided that I would be late with my 5209 and leave it until the Mourning Cards had been printed. At our Camera Club tonight, the theme was still life so I decided to give an idea a try, the Mourning Cards were printed today.

Grandad must have been looking down on me and helping here as I pulled off the exact same idea I had in my head.

RIP Grandad, I will never forget you

I too am sorry to hear of your loss (words are useless aren't they ?) you've produced a stunning and moving photo.

Sorry for your loss Kelly, that's a beautiful and touching photo.

Thank you, I'm coping a bit better now. I am so glad that I managed to get the photo I had in my mind though :)

I too am sorry to hear of your loss (words are useless aren't they ?) you've produced a stunning and moving photo.

I know what you mean about words but thank you very much, I needed to phone my Nan on the Monday and I had no idea what to say. I've had a little weep tonight downloading the photo. I made the Mourning Cards myself and got them printed by a great company down the road, it was very hard. I'm doing the Order of Services this weekend so another hard day to come. But it will get easier and as my friend said at her son's funeral in 2007, grief is like a tiger, you need to cage it but every now and again, you open that cage to let it out.

What a sad thing to happen Kelly. It sounds like you had a great relationship with him and your Mourning card reflects that, and as one of the last things you have been able to do for him, I'm sure it will bring you some comfort.

I love the composition of the picture and think you've got the DoF just about right.

Have one of these

Kelly, as John says, words are useless when this kind of thing happens.

Its a touching and loving shot you've produced and I'm sure your granddad will be looking down with a smile on his face at your work :).

Well done to you and, although its a cliche, rest assured that time does heal :)

Sorry to hear of your loss Kelly,

The photo of your grandad within your own photo is lovely.

((((((((((((BIG HUG)))))))))))))

Thank you very much, I have quite a lot of these with the card either laying flat, or the DOF being on the rose, different points on the card etc etc. I liked this one though but not quite sure why :)

Kelly, as I've said elsewhere tonight, I feel awful when I've missed somebody's post. I'm especially sorry I missed this one.

My deepest sympathy to you - and to your Nan and your family. He looked like a lovely, happy Grandfather and I hope your memories bring you comfort.

The photo is beautiful and so clearly expresses your feelings. I hope it's helped.

Jean
