Extremely quick shot :) need more time to play with them bring forth the weekend :D.

This is only with 1 light with a softbox on as i have no room in my little room at the moment to 2 set them both up, need to re-arrange [and find a house soon or i'll crack]

Just need to find something suitable for carrying/storing the lights and softboxes.

Just think. If you'd bought [my] elinchoms, you'd have had the cases included!;)
Yes, but he wouldn't have been able to afford to buy any light modifiers:lol:

Indeed :).

I have found a suitable bag which they should all fit into Kenro Studio Bag if anyone's interested should be ordering it in next week so can let you all know what its like.

If you could please post, a review of the Kenro bag, i would appreciate it, as i'm looking for one myself :)

Hi Morgan, How are you finding the Lencarta Kit? Am thinking of getting the same one :-)

Cheers

Lee

Had mine around 2 weeks now, wish i had got in sooner.

Bag is essential imo, and pop up octobox is good. Hard to find much to fault really?

thanks, that kit isn't available on there website, they have it with brolly and 83cm softbox :-), I too reckon a bag is essential! shame it doesn't come with one :-(

Lee, you can specify your own kit spec at the point of ordering.. Worth spending the extra on the pro softbox though, easy to put together and only a little more. Once set they can be put up and taken down like an umbrella....

As of now, you can buy several Lencarta kits that have different contents. All kits include either 2 or 3 flash heads with stands, a radio trigger and a bag for the stands, but you can choose to have either umbrellas, softboxes or a mixture.

If none of those kits are right for you just email to get a kit made up to your exact needs.

Once the next stage of the website development is finished (very soon I hope) the whole process will be simpler, you'll be able to choose literally any modifier from the vast range.
Once that happens things will be simpler for everyone:)

Thanks Gary, do you still get a discount if you customise your kit?

Cheers

Not if you miss an r out of my name:)

But if you spell my name properly you get exactly the same discount, i.e. anything you remove from the kit is removed at normal price and anything you add is added at normal price, making the saving exactly the same.

I'm also looking at the same kit btw :)

PMSL... Thankfully I didn't have a brew in my hand or I would have shared it with my laptop.....

Oops sorry Garry ! :-), thanks for the explanation of the way the kit is priced :-)

My Lencarta kit arrived today :D, feels like christmas! lol... not got everything out yet, but so far from what I have seen the quality of the kit is far superior to the Interfit kit I had a look at! even the standard light stands are well built

Can't wait to try it out tonight!

Lee, what kit did you go for?

I'm looking at parting with some hard earned to get myself a nice starter home set up. Something that I can add to when needed/when funds are available/when other half is in a good mood

Garry, do you have any suggestions? I'm a total newbie to lighting, so all the different names and pieces of kit confuse me atm

Simon,

What type of photography do you want to do, and how much space do you have?

Hi Simon,

I went for the http://www.lencarta.com/index.php?p...ategory_id=21&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=53 This has two 85cm soft-boxes, I was tempted to go with 60cm soft-boxes but after speaking to Garry I decided against them as I he said I can reduce the size of the light (without moving the box further away) with tape so effectively you have two softbox's in one, well that's how I look at it! I also bought a white Lencarta 3M x 6M white muslin background.

I'll let you know later tonight how I get on with the kit ;)

I did have the Interfit EX150 kit for an evening, though it was OK, after talking to Rough Edges (Simon) and Garry I decided a bit more money could get you a whole lot more in quality :-)

I'm extremely happy with my lencarta set-up.
I know i have had it a year now, but it's only seen occasional light use up until last weekend.

Sunday i had had them running all day. A full 8+ hours of not stop shooting and they didn't falter once.
I didn't have enough lights for what i wanted to do so borrowed a pair of bowens 200w heads from a mate, comparable heads on paper at least.
In reality, there still wasn't a difference to be seen, both lights worked just as well as each other which left my mate wondering why he spent what he did........

Hi Garry (note how I got the spelling correct from the off!)

Well, to be brutally honest, I'm not sure really what sort of photography I would like to do, however I did my first 'portrait' shoot a couple of weekends back as a favour. Mother and 8 year old daughter, in their lounge, using just hotshoe flash and natural light. I was quietly pleased with how I did, as it was my first time, and thought how much better I could have got them if I'd had some lighting to help me. I quite like the idea of being able to do that sort of thing in my lounge or dining room, neither of which are big. What would be ideal would be a starter set to get me going, which I can potentially add to if I want to focus purely on that side of photography/if it starts getting more serious/if I get more space to play with

sorry, big rambling reply. Hope that makes sense!

Thanks
Simon

My setup is hopefully gonna be put up in my living room as and when I need to do a shoot like yourself Simon, usable space is approx. 2.5M by 4.5M. I managed to setup the Interfit kit in that space without any problems, so I'm hoping I'll have no problems with the Lencarta Kit.

Yes, spelling my name correctly does put me in a good mood:)

I'd suggest the Lencarta SmartFlash 2 head kit with 1 softbox & 1 umbrella. The Elitepro is a bit more sophisticated and has more power but is quite a bit more expensive and you don't really need it in the space you have available.

Thanks very much Garry. I'll take a good look at that, and my finances. I sense a Premium Bonds withdrawal coming on.. Seeing as I also want a grip for my D300s!

Lee, this is the set up you've got is it not?

Only difference is the kit Garry has recomended has a 85cm Softbox and white reflective umbrella, and mine has two 85cm softbox's :-)

Here's some shots I took this evening with my new lencarta kit, I did however use a speedlite to use as background key, also bare in mind this is a first proper shoot, so any comments on improving shots would be most helpful :D

My only grumble is that there appears to be no way of adjusting the model lamp light level ? is this the case with most flash heads ?
