Thanks ElaineHe's gorgeous JudiIs that cheese he's got? I love the first shot where he seems to be saying "What's this then?"
Thanks ColinYeah first shot for me too... more an "off guard" shot...
Thanks LynneHi Judi
just love that lemon pig...brilliantof the 3 images I'd have to go for #1 , the sharpness, placement of piggy , colors & shadow all work really well
#3 a close 2nd ....the rumples in the gingham just detract a smidge
Step....I'm not much good with kiddy shots so would go with #1.....the whole of the child in shot , good colors , nicce n sharp & a lovely expression on his face![]()
Thanks RichardGreat take on the theme for Linked. No1 for Step. It looks very sharp, i prefer that it is not so cropped and the expression on your grandson's face gives it more interest. Great job.
a movie star ...
judi that second pic is priceless, but the crop/composition is wrong: no feet!
Thank you Phil, they were one of those quick look at Harry get the camera, so very rushed1st shot composition wise Judi2nd one certainly brings a smile, I can relate to that face mi self whilst eating a French Fancy

Thank you MandyStep - no one for me as well good composition I like it.
Thank you Allan,I think you may be right about #2 but there wouldn't have been a stepHave to agree with everyone 1st pic for me, he looks a little confused about what it is. the second one he has a great expression but it might have looked better tightly cropped
Thank you Michael, I love those there are 4 altogether2 lovely shots though #1 edges it for me as the composition is spot on with him all in shot and the more natural expression.
2 definite keepers![]()
Thanks Susie, if I had cropped it it wouldn't have fitted the themeHi Judi....two super clear pics .... I really like the fact they are so natural and not posed, I like the composition of the first as we can see his feet. By the expression on his face in the second one.....the bun must have been deliciousYes, the second one would look good cropped to capture that heavenly look.
- the actual image submitted is just about bang on for me, great composition, nice colours and well lit, a photo to treasure thank you Dean I love it tooHi Judi
That first shot of your great grandson is a lovely one, a brilliant expression he looks deep in thought/bemused, Crit... my usual whine on Archive Shots, but just ignore me- the actual image submitted is just about bang on for me, great composition, nice colours and well lit, a photo to treasure

Thank you AlanSwirly chocolate and linked sausages both work for me![]()
thank you Alan the sausages were fun to doSwirly chocolate and linked sausages both work for me![]()
Thank you Allan, the two butterfly's were fairly well hidden in the HydrangerHi Judi, butterfly looks nice and sharp when viewed large on flickr, sorry to be a pain but the second one looks too light much prefer the first one
and good idea for natural too
Thank you DavidWorks well for the theme but it's not really keeping me engaged as long as i want it to.
Thank you Adam, I quite liked the fact that they were hidden, doing their mating in privatehi judi, well done for getting the butterfly framed well and nice and sharp. I do feel it could do with being isolated a bit more, possibly with a shallower DOF as it gets lost in the frame slightly and its not immediately obvious what it is. A very nice capture even so.![]()
thank you,Old photographs....![]()
I'll comments on the natural blonde. On theme and good lighting with clean BG. I'd like a bit of drama as it's quite static. Perhaps a swing of the head to have Movement in the hair.
Cheers.
He was focused on his bun Peter,Step - I feel #1 is much stronger. You've got the subject on the third and totally engrossed in whatever is in his hand. Nice portrait
Nature - I prefer the edit of the butterflies. Unfortunately some of the blossom is in the way but that would have been tricky to have done anything about.

Thanks Mandy
Thank you GrahamNice flutterbies, I like that they are well camoflaged and takes a while to spot the first one, let alone the second.
Natural blonds works well, nice white BG and lovely colours in the hair.
Thanks Andy, I just wish that I could have had the hedge oof but I needed a wide dof as she was spinning and not on one spotHi, Natural edit works for me. I'm liking the movement and the sense of fun.
Cheers.
thank you CraigQuite like them all for natural![]()

....... viewed on flickr at the larger versions, you can see a little motion blur on the dog's tail which is spot on
, have you tried bring them down a little in PP?You don't need any help Judi![]()
I think you've done really well
You may have been able to use exposure compensation, but I'm afraid I've still to learn how to use it to its full advantage so I'm no help at all

The last one is a great action shot, good pov but possibly a little lower?....... viewed on flickr at the larger versions, you can see a little motion blur on the dog's tail which is spot on
the whites of the poles do seem a little bright to me
, have you tried bring them down a little in PP?
I agree with Phil - not about the whites of the poles.. they look fine.
Shutter seems pretty much spot on - maybe the 1/640 slightly better than the 1/400 but not much to pick. Last one really shows what the little dog can do and works well coming across as well as towards you.
Only thing I'd suggest is maybe pre-focussing on the top rail, and waiting for the dog to appear, burst firing might give you a nice sequence too. Nice set.![]()
Nice set Judi, I like the last one the best, its been captured at a nice point in the jump. The action has been frozen really well too so you don't need any help with that! One thing I would try would be a slightly lower POV, just to see if it works any better. Were you having trouble with your hit rate? I only ask with you asking for help? If so, have you tried the AL SERVO focus mode (Canon), really helps for tracking moving subjects?
