There are many different problems in the world. Doesn't mean we are only allowed to duscuss the most important ones. BTW itr's "Handcart".
I'm pretty sure everyone here was stating their opinion and not for one minute implying that everyone else should have the same one. Having said that, bullying is NOT funny in any right minded persons mind and that was bullying, or is it different if it's done in public. Wait a minute, no, that's even more humiliating!
As I've already said, in any other job that behaviour would be considered gross misconduct and they would suffer instant dismissal. Or do you think that it's OK if they are highly paid "entertainers"?
Well that's just reactionary ranting and not worth commenting on.
Now who's making judgements. Do you know his granddaughter? What if she does take advantage of it? Does it make the incident any better? I think not.
It was more a reference to the fact that this is hardly a story worthy of infuriated national attention to the point where the Prime Minister feels the need to step in and make a puclic statement about it. And as for the means of transport to hell - not where I come from it isn't.
No, bullying is not funny, but the statements far more frequently edged into "Ross/Brand are not funny" rather than "I don't think they're funny", eh?
I think you have to allow for the fact that in the job they do, they have to walk a line close to that. Prank phone calls have been a part of radio comedy for years, and this one was badly judged - but badly judged in a context where making a prank phone call is an acceptable thing to do. On the other hand, a fireman or a computer programmer making a nasty prank call hardly falls near their work remit. The margins of error are clearly different.
Or is it fearsomely cutting social commentary? YOU DECIDE.
..<snip> But the day we start sacking people when they make a mistake that is eminently possible in their line of work, we'll sack doctors each time they misdiagnose, actors every time they forget a line, and jugglers every time their balls drop.
I never said the call was OK. I agree it wasn't funny, and a bad idea. But the day we start sacking people when they make a mistake that is eminently possible in their line of work, we'll sack doctors each time they misdiagnose, actors every time they forget a line, and jugglers every time their balls drop.

Russell Brand has resigned from his Radio 2 programme following prank calls he made with Jonathan Ross to actor Andrew Sachs.
Less of his mug on the box, the better.
It's like being surrounded by Daily Mail readers...

SACK them both. Neither of them are funny in the least,
Y
If it was two of your favourite actors/singers/celbrities, and you absolutely LOVED them, would you still be saying 'sack them both'?
Can't really compare the prank that RB and JR pulled with that of the actions that Gary Glitter performed really dude.
How many of us would even have known about it if it was not for the media keep going on about it - I bet Gordon Brown is delighted as it has pushed the economic situation off the headlines

This wasn't a live show though, and the whole thing could so easily have been edited out, so the blame lies well up the pecking order in the BBC too.
blimey the radio 2 controller just quit..
i wouldnt be surprised if the queen doesnt abidicate!
that saves the bbc about £300k!! cool12 week suspension for Ross. (Unpaid) Not going to be sacked then...![]()
that saves the bbc about £300k!! cool
Surprisingly, it's actually about £1,384,615![]()
It was a cock up, and one that Sachs granddaughter will, I guarantee take full advantage of. So it's not all bad, we might get to see her on the telly.
