JollyJacks 52 for 2010 - Week 19 - Ingredients

I like the quad peppers, i first saw the image with the knife tip in which i wasn't keen on but i scrolled down.. keep it up
 
Well I managed to miss most of your thread Jon.

I like the peppers - lovely colours and very well lit.

Shoot is a great idea - very well shot both with the camera and the gun! I like the way your sig in the pic look like it's printed on the card.
 
I prefer the peppers for the chopped reshoot as the knife adds a little interest. That's some good shooting too!

Seriously, I like your take on the theme and the subject matter is very unusual, so a winner as far as I'm concerned.
 
I like both the pepper shots. In fact if I hadn't seen the fantastic toms I'd be raving about them, but I have to agree that they don't have quite the same impact as your produce shots.
(I think you just spoilt us all that week :lol:)
I actually prefer the second one - it just seems to be a little closer and have a bit more impact. It's a close call though and the knife does add an extra something in the first version.

Shoot is spot on theme and she's a great shot too.
I remember doing this in guides (girls couldn't join cubs / scouts way back then!) and I really regret not joining a shooting club because I enjoyed it too.
It's a nicely framed image and fitting your signature onto the date line is a nice touch too :thumbs:
 
The tomatoes look great - and for me the top spot is post #254. Luscious. :D

The peppers: I like the balanced composition, but would have liked the whole background to be the chopping board - and I realise it probably wasn't an option, but the background detracts from the peppers a little.

Shoot: Bang on target! :lol: An excellent interpretation of the theme - and congratulations to little Annie Oakley - she's a star. :thumbs:

Thanks everyone for you kind feedback, i will get around to viewing everyones 52's shortly, have a few problems at home which are taking up abit of time, but should have it sorted soon and will be back in full flow.
 
Not a bit fan of quad or the 2nd chopped I'm afraid but that's probably because I really, really like the original tomato shot, (it's one of my favourites on any 52 thread), so measuring up to it would always be hard.

The shoot shot is great, good use of props and bang on theme :thumbs:

Well i am alittle behind with this weeks due to working nights at moment, but got some quite this morning after kids gone back to school so had a go.

Scratch my head alittle then climbed into the loft to look for my old record box and pull out a Single i had got when i was a kid.

Tried to do something alittle different aswell, had ago at a couple of Zoom Bursts, So here is standard shot and 2 Bursts.

Hope you like them.

Oohhh... I've got some of those odd round plastic things in the loft too :lol:...

It's bang on theme, the feel fits nicely too... I rather like the second zoomburst effect, and the way you've done it fits in nicely with something you might expect them to do too
 
Catchup time :)

Produce: The first is the winner for me, and I do like your later edit. Nice colours and the shot makes them look delicious. Great product shot.

Reshoot: Again, it's the first for me with the knife clearly leading the eye into the shot, and clear care taken over composition and lighting as well as a nice use of DoF.

Shoot: That's very good for an air pistol and a nice memento for when she gets older. Spot on topic!

Single: Heh. Human League eh? Do you have a pink cardigan too?? Anyway. The subject is a good choice and on-theme. I really like the zoom bursts and it's worked quite well in my opinion. Again, the lighting is good here.

Are you getting lucky with the lighting, or just taking care? It seems to me that you have a good feel for it.

Really like the first one for Single Jon. Very well composed and the colours suit. The two with the zoom blur remind me of the opening credits to Top of the Pops around that time too. Excellent.

The first shot for single is sharp, well composed and well lit but it doesn't do anything for me I'm afraid. It is good technically but doesn't really grab the viewers attention.

The zoom burst version is a huge improvement though. I particularly like the first zoom burst shot. Composition and lighting is excellent as it is in the straight shot. The zoom raises the game for it and suits the time period of the single really well. You can still read the writing as the effect is not overdone.

Using a Single for single ;) had a similar idea myself but just couldn't be bothered going into the loft. Big :thumbs: for Human league as well.

I think you chose a record with some really interesting colours.

I prefer the first of the images. Bang on theme, and well composed. The house light is distracting for me - mainly because it's bright yellow. It might de-saturate nicely out of the way rather than needing cloning. Just my opinion though.

I prefer your first shot for Stare too...very nicely taken. I somewhat agree with Ian regarding the house light however I think if it was much darker outside and she had been framed completely by the doorway with the light coming through it would have made a cracking shot :) Nice telescope!

Thank you both very much, i see what you mean about the light. I had not notice's it before.
 
Nice one Jon, prefer the first I think, although the second is more on a par with a proper nighttime star. Just a shame that the longer exposure has caused some motion blur.

Is that a 130p Newt on an EQ2 I see ?
 
I like these, Jon. They fit the theme very well. I prefer the first but agree about the distracting light. I think it may have been a more powerful image if the background had been different, darker or a bit more blurred out.

You were lucky to have a model for 10 minutes at least! None of mine would have modelled for me.

A couple of good catch-up images there Jon.
Your peace image is bright, colourful and fun, your indulgence is a good one too. I like the lower perspective you've taken with this. Well done:thumbs:

I really like Peace. It makes me smile, and it's a good sharp, clean, fun shot that works really well. The DoF works really well. :clap:

Not too sure about the car though. Maybe because of the badge on the front :) Seriously though, it feels a bit "busy" for me. Not sure if that's because of the ceiling of the car park (?) where you took the shot. Same as Iain, I like the angle you've chosen though and that front fog "sparkle" is a nice touch.
