It does have a white ceiling ProG77, i will try and bounce the light when i next play with it, i had done some of my PS3 in the tent but the surface is to reflective and you could see the white sides and front of the tent in the console. I will try the lamps this week.

I liked the shadows, its one of the reasons i choose this image. i do have some without the shadows

Thanks rich, it has different colour backgrounds but the black and white does make it look crisp.

Belated Happy Birthday, Jon. Light tents are great, but sometimes they also leave you with lighting problems - photography can be soooo frustrating sometimes. :lol: Having said that, I do like this. The simple colour palette is what struck me first, then I thought the tennis game looks great fun, and lots of buttons to keep button-pressers happy. :D

I went back and had another look at the lighting, and actually I think it works well. The two controllers are well lit and you have balanced the vibrancy of the red bat very well - it could have overwhelmed the shot. And i like the slight red reflection in the base of the Wii unit. The composition is balanced and fills the frame, and your blakc background is black-black - lovely, and something I always struggle with. :)

So, a definite :thumbs: from me on this one, and I look forward to lots more light tent pictures from you. :)

Yay, another March birthday :D

I like this shot, looks like the corner of our lounge but more in focus! Nice collection of bits (ignoring the Wii side of things) with plenty to look at too.

Thank you both for your positive feedback, I am planning on using the light tent alot this week, if i get any workable photo's will post them on TP
 
Could be a product shot there Jon and I'm jealous of all your Wii gear :(

Nice idea, well composed and if you're happy with the shadows, then that's all that counts.

Black, red, white . . . definitely a winning combination. It works well and is almost guaranteed to give a shot impact.
Very nice composition and the lighting has worked well - there's a really nice balance between the white Wii and the black b/g.

BTW what have you arranged the Wii on? It looks like a good shiny surface and I really like the little bit of reflection that you've caught.

Thanks Sarah, the shiny surface was a black glass shelf that i place inside the tent, it works ok but sometimes you get the white tents top in the reflections, alittle more pratice i think

Thanks jgs001, the lighting use here was just natural light from the kitchen window and the odd burst from the flash gun

Jon, I really like the middle of the bottom shots. Perfect composition and lighting. The plug sockets in the background even add to the lab feel.

Thanks Dean, it helps having a Chem Lab at work aswell, today was quite so i popped in and Grabbed a few photo's during lunch before the students started again this afternoon.

Out of all the shot I think I prefer the right hand side one at the bottom.

The colours make it really interesting and unlike the other two show no plugs or wall etc to clutter the image

Well done!
 
Great colours and composition I particularly like the shadows in the smaller images.

Nice idea to use your new light tent to do a product type shot of your Wii, agree with previous comments on the shadows though.

I think Deans right with the middle of the bottom three shots, the angle is spot on and the shadows are great.

Now i have had time to look at them again i have to agree the bottom middle is the best of the bunch. Thanks for your feedback
 
The small shots are all very good Jon, the colour and lighting look good and I particularly like the little refractions of light on the surface. Not so keen on the plug socket though.

I like your main shot a lot too. Lighting and composition on it are spot on :thumbs: Is the purple some CA or is it a trick of the light?
 
Jon, I like your main image but the smaller images on the bottom appeal more, probably because there are more colours in them. To be honest, any one of your images would work, I like the lighting and composition in them. The sockets add to the theme too, they don't distract at all. Well done:thumbs:
 
I actually like all of these Jon.

Middle bottom definitely stands out in terms of colours and I love the highlights in the reflections. It's also got a "working" lab feel to it.

The composition in your chosen shot really stands out for me too though. I love the lighting in this one and the clean background.

TBH I'm finding it really tough to choose between them - Can we just make this a two shot week? :lol:

The Purple was a small adjustment in Lightroom, Thanks for your comments Darren.

Cheers Sarah, after my couple of weeks poor results i am glad to be finding the time to try and produce some better photo's. I am pleased you like them.
 
They're all really good but having looked at your flickr pages last night I have to plump for your 3rd small picture. I like the angle as much as anything. The colours and lighting are wonderful.
 
I really like the main pic Jon... it works very well... The lighting and details are excellent. I think I have to say though I prefer the middle of the smaller ones...
 
The three smaller pics are excellent with great colours and yell 'Chemistry' from the rooftops, but my favourite is definitely your main pic. There's something about glass, water (or noxious chemical?) and light that's magic, and for me you've captured it in this one. :clap::clap::clap:

The main shot does not work for me for a number of reasons.
However the last of the three smaller images is the one I prefer.
It has a certain depth to it. also it has three items in the frame as opposed to two.
I like the shadow cast by the bottles, and of course the colors and angle of shot.
 
I like the way you have caught the subtle reflections and colours in the glass, and the 'pose' works well.

Your rejects have a lot of potential with their brighter colours and different shapes, particularly the middle one, but the backgrounds are untidy. Worth revisiting if you get a chance.

I love the 3 small chemistry images better than your main one. I love the vibrant colours and the shadows. Very good pics for the theme.

I also really like your 3 candid shots. That guy looks so bored directing the traffic. My favourite is the middle one - very fitting for the theme.

Glad you enjoyed your visit to Silverstone.

Middle one for me Jon.
It's kind of hard to offer much C&C because I don't really "do" people shots. However, I think that the close up in the middle one has the most impact and you've caught an interesting expression on his face.

Hope you had a good day out. (I'll have to hide this thread from my OH or he'll be really jealous)
