John's Photo 52 PtII - Week 52 (28th Dec) - Texture

Thanks very much Tracer

another vote for the angle that you've got, it really makes you look at the picture to try and understand why it looks different to that which you'd expect! A very clever use of perspective I think.
I keep coming back to it, which must be good!

Thanks very much Mark

I'm surprised, this is another week, done before the weekend. An idea hit me, so I just went for it. It's also, probably the most PP'ed image I've done for the 52, my astro images get far more heavy PP, but my normal stuff very rarely gets anymore than raw processing.

Ohhh thats good on so many levels :) Spot on theme and it took me two views before I saw '"confusion" which works, imho, to the image's credit ;)

If I had to make one tiny change it would be to even up the spaces right and left...but thats minor.

This one demands to be looked at many times :) I like it!

Thanks very much John. I can't believe you got in and commented before I'd changed the thread title ;) you're on the ball today. I decided to go for an Asymmetric view, as that's how I'd intended it when I shot it in the first place. If I get time, I may look at adjusting it for Symmetry.

Cheers Conor... you've got a few days yet ;)

Clever, very clever...:clap::clap::clap:

Wow that's a couple of good weeks in a row...all good stuff John...

now we are getting near the end can you feel the pressure starting to go a little... I know I can...

catch up time

Self , bang on theme, but technically lacking with the lighting

Organised, bang on theme, with good colours and lighting :clap:

Confused, Love it, well thought out and taken :clap:

Cheers Marcus... I've enjoyed the last couple, and I agree with you... relaxing a little about it all as it's nearly over... wish I'd managed to do that earlier on.... ;)

Organised, bang on theme, with good colours and lighting :clap:

Confused, Love it, well thought out and taken :clap:

Cheers Jon... Self, I agree with you on the lighting... I've got very little so am making do, till I can sort some out... it's on a very extensive shopping list...

I really like this one - a clever idea and very well done. And I think the slight asymmetry makes it look more dramatic. This is confusion, after all! Well done!:clap:

thank you both very much ;)

well glad to see its not just my book collection that looks like that :D

Although i only made it through about 6 of those stories and got board, you have caught them well though.

Confused made my head hurt and im guessing that was the point so a  from me :D

Thanks very much

Hi John

Self - nice to see what you look like ;) and an interesting sp with lots to look at. I don't think the shadow is a bad thing at all and you've given us an insight to more than what you look like

Organised - wow, this definitely plays with your head :D Great composition and like Jean says your eyes are led through the picture. Oh, and it fits the theme as well,:clap:

Confusion - another clever shot from you John. You are definitely back on a roll after your recent thoughts about giving it all up. Only 4 more to go :woot: although I want to do it all again next year :cuckoo:

Thanks very much Jill...

Self, the shadow... I feel just a bit softer would have helped.. but can't be done with the kit I've got.. so ...

Organised and Confusion... Job done ... ;)... The intent of those shots was to produce the effect in the viewer and they seem to have done that to everyone that's seen them... Have I found my niche ??

The giving up wasn't to do with the 52... just everything else ...

And you know what... strangely ... I'm thinking the same thing  there have been times, and in fact they are still like that, when the 52 is the only reason I'm getting the camera out... the slightly worrying thing is, I've been thinking I ought to make the challenge harder for myself (I really must be mad) and defining extra limits on the shots... for instance all in mono... but I can't make up my mind on that one...

You want to make your 52 harder!?:cuckoo::lol:

I like confusion, it's a very clever shot. I agree with John about the symmetary though.

Mark:thumbs:

Yes I know... totally fruitcake, several fruit trees short of one ....

Cheers Mark. I may look into it, if I find the time to sit down and work through all those selections again... but ....

Thanks very much Sarah... I think I may have rolled too far with that last one ;)... I'm not sure I'm gonna manage anything like that for Music...

Not as easy as I'd hoped. It doesn't help having used music for a number of other shots.. then MagicMynx went and not only did something I'd been aiming for but did it so much better than I'd achieved too... Ah well... I've run out of time, it's not going to happen over the weekend. So after a quick rethink I had a try at something else... And a bit of a different process...

Personally, I don't think it's anywhere near as good as other shots I've put up, but... it's what I have.

I quite like this. Only minor niggle is the DOF. The middle of the harmonica is in focus as is the front of the music sheet, and it makes it look like it's floating! Actually... it kind of makes me like it more

Nice shot all the same

Thanks very much Conor. Actually it is floating and I'm impressed you spotted it ;).

I don't believe it - that is almost exactly the same shot I was lining up and mine was also using Hohner harmonica and Beach Boys sheet music! Incredible!!!!

Nicely done as ever John, I like the angles and dof (and whats the music there...?)

:)

Great idea...but it hurts my eyes to look at it too long...

The focus is a bit too much for me... it could with a tad more DOF for my taste... that's not to say I don't like it...

The whole tone and layout works very well, spot on theme...

Nice shot, but Karmagarda wrote exactly what I was thinking.
Does look a bit like it is floating.
Love the detail on the harmonica. Fantastic stuff.

I quite like that, well done.

Thanks MM

Haha! So you're the harry potter of TP then !

:D:D Hardly...

:D what can I say John.. great minds ;)... Can you play yours ? Thanks... It's Elton John

Thanks Marcus, sorry about the DOF... I was aiming to try and blur out the sheet music a bit...

Nice shot, but Karmagarda wrote exactly what I was thinking.

Thanks Jaz ... it looks like it's floating, because it is floating :D

Cheers Jeff

I like this, including the suggestion that the "moothie" is floating. Ideally I would prefer the whole of the top of it in focus, though, with the music more evenly blurred, I think. But i really like the processing and the vignette.

How the heck did you do that

I'd love to have seen more of it in focus but that's just being picky. Great idea and spot on for the theme :clap:

Thanks Tracer, that seems to be the general consensus... I may reshoot it.

Jill... In the words inspired by Jaz... Wingardium Leviosa (or I'll reveal all in another shot later, when I can get time to shoot it ;)) Thanks.

The problem with being late commenting is that everything's already been said.

 Great composition and lovely interpretation. I like it a lot.

Thanks Sarah, no worries ;)

As promised, here's how I levitated the Harmonica...
