Did a bit of DIY t'other day and this morning went to the council waste centre to get rid of the following:
3 bin bags of plaster board off cuts,
4x empty boxes which had contained a cloakroom suite,
a small pallet said boxes were delivered on
and a bag of saw dust, empty plaster bags etc.
I put them in my (4'x3') trailer to save messing my car up. When i got there the man says sorry no trade waste. Fair enough, so i asked him where i could get rid of them. He said ring the council. So i parked outside the yard and rang them. The nice lady there said there is no problem so long as they are in the boot of my car. I explained i have a nice clean car and wanted to keep it so.
Anyway i went back in and repeated what nice council ladty old me. NO problem he said but they will not take pallets.
Back to my car and in full view of "not nice skip man" decanted the waste into the boot of my estate. I kicked the pallet into submission and put that in as well.
I then drove back into the yard with the empty trailer still attached. "Not nice man" greeted me with a forced smile and duly pointed me to the correct skips to deposit the now "non-trade" household waste and wood!
I wouldnt have minded paying to dump at a trade site but changing its status from trade to household because of what you take it in is rediclulous.
Rant over...
