jessops/comet staff

Let me tell you a story.

Twice last year I went to Plymouth Currys, and like many customers waited for the late opening after staff training, TWENTY minutes passed on BOTH occasions, no doors open, and I do complain when necessary (I also compliment when I receive good service).

On the second occasion I was so annoyed upon complaining to the Manageress I received an on the spot gift worth £15 as an apology.

The trouble with us British is we complain to each other, never where it matters, I am the one in the quque at Morrisons with my money, that is cash not card ready to pay as I have already taken it out, outside, and I am the one who says loud enough, "Oh now you get your card out to pay, watching as "she" mostly, spends time looking in her handbag trying to find here pruse.

If you receive bad service write and complain, if we all did it as I do we would get better service.

Yes because its always just women who fumble around for things at the checkout.

Ghastly comment.

Started off so well but then you ruined it with a horribly ignorant sexist comment at the end. Oh well.

:shake:

Who is worse, the person who dallies whilst paying for their groceries or the person who makes everybody in ear shot feel uncomfortable by being rude to a total stranger? And incidentally, what has that got to do with bad service?

Ok Ok duly noted, as they say that is life, though there are enough people on various forums who are just as rude in other ways, people in glass houses :|

And apologies if some are upset.

But it takes longer to pay with cash than it does with a card.

If you were behind me in a queue and you made someone feel awkward for taking an extra 5 seconds to find their money, I would deliberately take absolutely ages at the till, just to wind you up for a laugh

huh, Basingstoke is pants - shops are dire and there's little choice of anything. we have one camera shop (Jessops) and one music shop....give me Newcastle back any day :(

I've never had anything other than exceptional service at Basingstoke Jessops and always found their staff accommodating and they are willing to price match...

No just honest, and if this is the worst thing I have done in my 50+ years then I can not complain.

whereas everyone left in your wake sure complains...... about you.

The key is raising a complaint in a courteous, respectful way. your post suggests you are capable of neither.

I agree - that wasn't what I meant, I was talking about lack of choice :)

After reading this thread, and also the one on taking pictures in a cemetery at dusk thread, I'm wondering if JSER is actually two people .. reading what he puts on this thread about how rude he is to people, then on the cemetery thread going on about people having manners!!
Just my opinion

Oh how wonderful it must be to be perfect, oh wait, no one is ;)

Also you neglected to note in your readings, that I actually made an apology, didn't comment on that I see, yet I have read many worse comments where people have not done so :)

I must say the comment about the cash and card is strange and rather random, and if someone in a queue loudly berated me in front of others I'd make them feel pretty small to say the least. It's just unnecessary.

I always pay by cards.

I've not shopped in Comet/Currys for years due to the overpriced products and poor service!

Jessops - I bought a compact via their web site back end of last week. Got onto there tracking area and it basically didn't move for a couple of days then stated 'On back order'. As this was a (last minute!!) present I was getting a bit concerned. Emailed CS and got a note back saying it was out of stock so replied asking to cancel then in a matter of a few mins got a reply back saying I couldn't as it was being processed. My next reply went unanswered but I had no idea what was going on :bang:

I phoned over the weekend to find out what was going on. I explained I'd ordered a Red Fuji T200 camera (:naughty:) and he checked and said 'yep, out of stock' but then, 'hang on did you say T200, I've just dealt with another question about that' then he basically gave me a breakdown of what colour was going to be in when. I ended up going for the black () as it was supposedly in stock.

Two days went by and the order status never changed :bang: Then I get a phone call from the missus to say Yodel had left a card saying they couldn't deliver as we weren't in even tho' I told Jessops to tell the courier to leave it in the porch. Rang the mobile number Yodel left the next morning and just said that he had tried to deliver yesterday. 'Ahh, you from such a street ?'. No idea how he got to knowing who I was when I hadn't given my name. I asked if he could leave it in the porch. 'No problem, will deliver early in the afternoon' came the reply. Was sceptical with what I have read about Yodel but I must congratulate both for 'delivering' at the busiest time of the year

Note to self, stop leaving present buying to the last minute :bang:
