Let me tell you a story.
Twice last year I went to Plymouth Currys, and like many customers waited for the late opening after staff training, TWENTY minutes passed on BOTH occasions, no doors open, and I do complain when necessary (I also compliment when I receive good service).
On the second occasion I was so annoyed upon complaining to the Manageress I received an on the spot gift worth £15 as an apology.
The trouble with us British is we complain to each other, never where it matters, I am the one in the quque at Morrisons with my money, that is cash not card ready to pay as I have already taken it out, outside, and I am the one who says loud enough, "Oh now you get your card out to pay, watching as "she" mostly, spends time looking in her handbag trying to find here pruse.
If you receive bad service write and complain, if we all did it as I do we would get better service.
