And boy was she pretty.
I would have loved to have done a review, but I just held it in awe at its lovelyness...lol (Besides, it wasn't mine, so didn't really have time to have a play with all the features and take lots of photos).
Forgive the low quality phone cam shots
Here it is side by side with my 30D
And the same from the rear :
I did have a little play with it, taking a few test shots (I apologise to Carl for "Reducing your lovely specimen of camera to taking shots of my cat..." lol)
A couple of things I noticed over the 30D. Firstly, the shutter button. It's not a microswitch, there's no feel of a sudden 'click' of the button, It's more gradual and analogueish and spring loaded, you just gently squeeze. More like a snipers shutter button...lol
Also the shutter noise. Sounds much smoother and quieter than my 30D, and thats without even turning on the new "Silent shooting" mode...hehe
OK, these are serious comparisons of course. Just me waffling
The screen? Huge. The viewfinder? Didnt find it much bigger than the 30D TBH. Although the amount of extra info along the bottom and up the side
was excellent, from the standard exposure meter bar, it has metering mode icon, ISO, file type, number of file left for burst mode for that file type, shots left on card etc. All very handy.
How does it feel? Like a bloomin glove. As soon as I picked it up I said "You can instantly *feel* the amount of research that's gone into the ergonomics". while the finger rests on the shutter button, the second finger rests in its own little recess, while the last two rest on the grip.
Thats enough of me waffling now. Just like to say a little thankyou to Carl Ogden for bringing it round and letting me have a little play
Oh yes I would like one, but its an unfeasible purchase for me unfortunately (just at the moment anyway).
Finally, here's one of me holding a smug grin in, and it wasnt even my camera
