iTunes keeps wanting to update on my desktop but I won't let it. From what it says, I don't need the upgrade and from what I've heard, it might cause problems. IIAFDFI!
Yeah! Same here. I don't see the point in upgrading iTunes just for a little fix. It's understandable to upgrade from iTunes 9 to 10, then upgrade 10 to 11, but what's the point of upgrading from say iTunes 11.1.0.1 to 11.1.0.2 (purely made up example) just for what seems to be a fix for a tiny bug on thousand of computer, and mine is not one of that thousand, mine is working fine. I don't see the point in downloading a minor upgrade, then end up with installation problems, or your verision of iTunes works fine, other people's same verision works wonky, and the next minor upgrade ccomes out and helpsis to fix their problem, only when you do upgrade, your verison gets wonky (along with thousands of different people who now reports theirs is wonky), while the ones with wonky iTunes get fixed!!
It's like apps from Apple's store, a lot of people reports problems with their apps, but mine seems to be working fine, so out comes the new updated version, they download and install it, it works well, I download and install only to find it won't work on mine!!
If my iTunes 11 is working fine on my machine, then i'm just following the well known phase "If it aren't broken, don't fix it." so I don't bother downloading a minor upgraded version, and if I don't download it, then I don't worry about ending up with installation problems. I would rather install iTunes 11 then leave it for a couple of years until iTunes 12 than spend an hour every month or so installing and possiblity trying to sort out troublesome installation, of every little minor version like 11.1, 11.1.1, 11.1.2, etc., etc.,
good thing you get the box that says "New iTunes 11.blah.blah.blah is out now, would you like to download and install?" and I'm thinking
If i download this, what are the chances of this next version giving me a wonky installation that needs me to waste an hour or two trying to fix it myself? so I rather not take the chances and click 'No'
I agree with Nod, i don't need the upgrade, so if I don't need the upgrade, then I don't have to worry about an installation that go south.
