It's just not the same

Thing is, it's been about 35years since I had one, now I want one :D
LOL It'll never taste as good now as it did then I bet :D

Speaking of drinks. Anyone made a drink from hot water and Marmite with a bit of Scotch Bonnet pepper added? Really like it if I've got a bug and feeling a bit achy and shivery.

Dave

Not Marmite (although I like it on toast [and licking the spreading knife!]) but I use to have Bovril with Ryvita (buttered on the naughty side!) as a cold/flu food when I was a kid - about the only thing I could keep down IIRC!

I grew out of that years ago.
I'm still oLd though ( before you say it :p )

FTFY!
Marmite on toast topped with a strong Cheddar and shoved under the grill for a bit.

Yup, delicious, although IMO, a bit of Bovril mixed up with some mayonaise and grated Cheddar (as strong as you can get), spread on toast then lobbed under the grill... :drooling:!

I always cut out the green bits, as they taste rather bitter TBH.

They're also poisonous IIRC. Mind you, most things are in large enough quantities - IIRC, I need to eat about 20kg of chocolate for it to do me harm. Challenge accepted!!!

Sliced (sharp tasting) apple, cinnamon and a sprinkling of brown sugar makes a rather tasty sandwich too.

That's tea sorted!!

Works well with a tuna melt :)
I don't like Tuna either so I'm definitely going to pass :p

On the other hand
Melts or milts are the roes of male herring, often known as 'soft roe'. :D

Keep up Nod :p

No. That might require running.

Now that kinda sounds nice but I'm not sure on mayo under the grill @Nod

Not enough mayo in the mix to make it runny, just as a binding agent really. Even better when topped with crispy bacon (but leave the Bovril out to avoid a meaty clash!)

Yuck!!
My mum used to fry cod roe. :puke:

I'm not even sure if it has to be done by qualified sparky or not these days,
but its just like wiring a plug. Same colours same terminals.

disclaimer if you die trying don't come running to me :p

I wired a plug on a hairdryer incorrectly once.
Switched it on and blew a foot wide chunk of plaster out of the wall.
I tend not to trust myself with elastic-trickery these days either.

Eek!... Admittedly I don't like messing with anything like that, I wish I could because I'm sure I'll get charged a fortune

Only a little bit!

If you like Cheddar and Marmite sarnies, give it a go. If you hate it, let me know and I'll take it off your hands for a small fee (cash in the jiffy bag with the cheese! [all to go to Hospicecare.])

A mate of mine, as kids, used to eat OXO cube butties.

Anyone tried chips on marmalade sarnies?
Granted, it sounds strange, BUT honestly Mmmmmmmmm

I'm really liking the sound of that!!

Been eating em for years (not everyday though ;)) I wish I'd patented the idea.

Honestly (providing you like marmalade) they are the future! (y)
Hot with cold, sweet & sour  Mmmmmmmmm.

It does sound weird I must admit, but I think I can risk a few chips and a slice of bread in the interests of science :D

@Nod The cheesy Bovril toast was deeeeelicious.

Isn't that what coffee and Brandy is for?
Oops 'cuse me, main ingredient first...
Brandy and coffee :D

Good point Cobra, though my preference in the alcoholic direction is, whisky, lemon juice, hot water and sugar.
