damn you've finally discovered that I am her in disguise!
Hi Joe, that would be really scary!
...The point is, just because you dont like the game doesn't mean it shouldn't be in the media as much as it is, you have no issues with other sports being in the media so you have to lump it I'm afraid...
That's a fair point I guess... I suppose it's no different for those of us who hate the likes of Eastenders and Corrie too!

(I probably just offended half the forum - including toonape's family) with that remark.
... As for being in south africa, unfortunately I have a job where I only get 2 weeks of holiday, a 10 month old daughter and a pregnant wife. As much as I would love to be there, its not as important to me as my family and work...
It's somewhere I'd love to be as well... Not necessarily for the football but it's certainly a country I'd love to visit. Maybe one day!

I have friends out there and my godfather is from Rhodesia (still can't get used to calling it Zimbabwe).
It does get my goat though when people claim that unless you are actually at matches you cant be a real supporter. People like this should really get over themselves
I'm not suggesting that those who don't go to matches aren't
real fans; it's more a case of not being able to understand the fascination when you can't get involved in the 'atmosphere'. I got dragged along to an FAW match between Aberystwyth and Port Talbot last (this?) season and even I got caught up in the atmosphere... I only went there to take some photos but got involved with yelling at the Port Talbot goalie who was a right ponce. He got hit on the head with a coin but if you'd seen the way he was rolling around on the ground, you'd swear he'd been clobbered by a concrete block!
...As for fielding a national team, the english FA wanted to do this for the olympics in two years and guess what. Wales and Scotland said no, we dont want to be a part of it. Absolute shame as I'm sure the footballers themselves would have loved the chance to compete in the games. As it stands england are looking to go forward with a team because they want to actually field one rather than the selfish powers that be of said other nations.
I didn't know that the Scots and Welsh said no although it doesn't surprise me... I'm actually from Surrey by the way!
It's a shame really 'cos I honestly think it would be a crowd-puller. It would certainly put the 'united' in 'United Kingdom' for a change!
Thanks for replying in a decent fashion too... I think the person in the quote below needs to learn a little bit from you.
Cheers,
Si
I suppose there was little chance of getting a decent thread on the world cup, when even the mods refer to the supporters as knuckle draggers. Quite offensive to my wife and kids, let alone all the other intelligent law abiding peeps that follow the sport... Personally I'm backing out of all football threads, the smell is getting offensive. I'll leave it for you sneerers to wallow in
You left this behind --->
Shut the door quietly on the way out, some of us are trying to relax! :razz:
