It has everything to do with common sense. You say there is no point to commit murder. Well, in a society that didn't condone such an act, everyone would kill each other for multiple reasons. Land, money, oil... wait.. we do that now right?
Yes I know society condemns it, but that is all there is to it, there isn't some absolute moral that says killing is universally wrong. The only reason people don't kill people is because it would hinder themselves more than what they'd get out of it most of the time. As a society we no longer need to kill people (at least in england), because we can get food, water, etc without it. But in other countries people will kill people for the above if they need it. And "gangmembers" here might kill someone because they feel the need to or its gna be worse for them if they don't, like they'd kill them instead etc., and there bought up in an environment where "getting away" from the police is what you do.
