Does anyone else get a real buzz when opening up the box with a new camera in it? My new toy arrived yesterday and I was a boy again, opening his Xmas presents.

I spend hours/days/weeks in bed with my new toy and the manual pdf open on my laptop, with '... for Dummies' and various other camera related sites open in other tabs. I have the odd chair and ornament strategically placed for shooting at and getting a feel for focal length, dof etc whilst running though the menus and finding where everything is. Not the most fun you can have in bed but it comes a close second.Does anyone else get a real buzz when opening up the box with a new camera in it? Sort ofbut of course the thing doesn't have to be new, it can be a nice old lens that's just new to me
I have a busy, stressful and often upsetting life and the odd little treat like selecting, receiving and using an old £20 lens gives a welcome relief and a touch of simple innocent happiness![]()
I was a gibbering, drooling wreck opening my 5Div.

Have you ever been waiting ages to be able to buy a camera or lens then when it finally arrives put it on a shelf for a few days to let the excitement build up more?
No, but I sometimes wait until the Mrs isn't looking to open the boxHave you ever been waiting ages to be able to buy a camera or lens then when it finally arrives put it on a shelf for a few days to let the excitement build up more?
No, but I sometimes wait until the Mrs isn't looking to open the box
Is cost related to excitement?
Probably not for me. I recently got a Voigtlander 40mm f1.2 which I suppose is a mid priced lens and I was just as excited to get the last thing I bought which was an old Minolta 55mm f1.7 which was a fraction of the cost.

Nor me ,even a battery can excite me lolNo, but I sometimes wait until the Mrs isn't looking to open the box

Obvious answer lol been there done that lolI'm lucky, my wife is VERY understanding and we always agree large outlays. I don't think that cost is necessarily linked to excitement, personally, although I suppose for most of us, a lot of scrimping and saving goes into a high value item, so there is perhaps a greater sense of satisfaction.
You really need to see a psychiatrist!![]()
