I was asked the question during a portrait shoot at the weekend whether I was CRB checked, I am not. It got me thinking, so have looked it up tonight and found this on the crb website
Does this mean that as a self employed photographer who comes into contact with children on a regular basis I can not pay to have myself CRB checked to provide my clients with a piece of mind???
Or am I grabbing the wrong end of a muddy stick and now have do do on my hands??
The current legislation does not allow the self-employed or individuals to apply for a CRB check on themselves. In addition, parents who employ a nanny/au pair/babysitter directly cannot apply for a CRB check; however, if an agency supplies the nanny/au pair/babysitter, the agency is entitled to carry out a CRB check.
