iOS 9 upgrade

Aah, well now there is the question...

Not a clue, would have thought so, but potentially not,,,
The things is there really is no excuse. If they have an iCloud account and charge their phone connected whilst connected to the wifi. It will happen automatically.

Updated my IPad Air on Monday and all seemed well.

Yesterday I was shooting on a new holel site (first day doing real work since my stroke) anf I use my IPad Air with a wireless Freecom MediaShare box to view my pictures.
All fine but when it came to 'bridge' my SDHC card through the MS unit to copy onto my Passport drive (connected to the MS nox) through the IPad the on-screen keyboard will not 'hide' and touching the keyboard button shifts the open keyboard about 15mm up!. So the MediShare controls to 'create' folders on the USB drive and the file transfer controls transfer are completely obscured by the keyboard which will not hide. Mega pain.

Did get the transfer done.... via Anfroid. Used the Freecom App on my Galaxy S4 Zoom and was able to send important shots to my client via the S4 on 4G connection. First time let down by my wifi/3/4G connected IPad. Hopefully the issue will be sorted in 9.1 and/or Freecom.

After getting used to the IPad as a review backup and delivery tool I hope Apple/Freecom sort this glitch

Just got pinged when I got home to say 9.01 is out ....

Wish I'd seen this earlier:( Today we upgraded our broadband to fibre, OHs laptop super fast (Windows) (hard wired) my iPad (wireless) playing silly buggers. Couldn't post on here, typing all over the place, slow to open pages etc despite my speed being more than three times faster than usual. Forgot that I had updated iOS today so sat and cursed the new fibre..... Telling OH that it was a waste of money and got in a right strop. Then I read this Have followed above instructions re clearing website data and will see how it goes. So far so good.

I'm still not convinced all is as it should be:( iPad keeps going really slow:(

My iPad will no longer open TP or Flickr etc using Safari without signing in every time ie it won't retain the sign in details. It will however retain them via Google/Chrome but changing from page to page etc is a lot slower than Safari. It also opens a lot more apps now that I haven't used, when I double click the main button to clear the open apps there's a whole lot more that have opened than I have been using. Very strange as it's never done this before.

Mines still playing up too. It's really peed me off.

Am getting intermittent internet connection dropout problems on my IPad Air. My son's identical IPad (bought at the same time as mine) but not running iOS 9 is working perfectly.
Back to Apple to get things back on track.

Hmmmmm, this is a minor upgrade (~25mb) and works okay on our Ipads, but requires you to have IOS 9 installed which caused the iPhone 5, to be completely frozen with an unresponsive screen saying 'Slide to Upgrade'. I had followed the advice given by Apple to connect to Itunes and restore the phone, but that did not work and the phone was still unusable - so how I will be able to upgrade to 9.0.1 which supposedly will cure the problem encountered in IOS 9?? - Catch 22 .

I'd imagine that if you upgrade using iTunes you'll get the full iOS9.0.1 and avoid needing 9.0 at all.
(I generally upgrade my phone via iTunes and when I updated from 9.0 to 9.0.1 iTunes downloaded the full 1.6GB file, not the very much smaller delta update file.)

FWIW I originally did a full restore (I do this occasionally to clear out a load of accumulated cruft) to iOS9 on my iPhone 5 and had no problems at all.

I have updated an iPhone 5s, 6, 6s, and an iPad 2 and iPad Air 2 to 9.0.1, all through iTunes by downloading the full .ipsw. Not one has had any issues, I only browse on the Air 2 these days, I haven't had a forum problem (even once) since the upgrade.

@lostsoulal2 You need to put the iPhone into DFU mode and then update using iTunes.

I am fairly new to the "Apple World" and 'maybe illogically' find that Itunes is a very clunky and uncooperative piece of software; with hidden menus, some that do not work as expected, or I encounter random failures, which may be attributable that I am running it on a Windows based PC.....................? so am very appreciative of your comments above.

I am now very happy to report that I have a fully working as expected (well everything I have tested so far) Iphone 5 running on IOS 9.0.1 and I did not have to resort to entering DFU mode :).

As you both said; I did get the full 1.55gb IOS 9.0.1 update, going through Itunes. (y) Thank you both.

I updated my iPhone 5 to IOS 9.01 Thursday evening before leaving for a 10 day trip to Shetland on Friday. I covered myself by backing up to my MacBook Air that was travelling with me, and also exported all the data that was relevant to the MBA via iExplorer. Then cloned the MBA to a portable external HD going with me, and another backup to a HD left at home. I don't believe in taking chances.

All has been working well, no issues.

I'm having lots of issues, since updating, over wifi connection and downloading of emails!

For iOS issues, the following is always worth trying (in increasing order of inconvenience).
Make sure you have a backup and test after each step to see if the issue has been resolved.

  • Power cycle the phone (yep - turn it off and on again)
  • Make sure you have a backup (iCloud, iTunes or better still, both)
  • Make sure you have the latest available version of iOS (Settings>General>Software Update)
  • Reset Network Settings - clears all stored wireless SSIDs, so you will need to reconnect
  • Reset All Settings - clears all settings and temporary files. This includes ringtones and, most importantly, alarms. Photos, music, messages etc. are not removed.
  • Restore Phone as new and restore backup.
  • Restore iPhone as new and set up as a new device - i.e. do not restore the backup. Using iCloud, you can easily restore contacts, calendars.
If none of the above work, then there may be a hardware issue that requires service, so try Apple support.

Cheers, will try the above. I have turned the wifi assist thing off.

I should have added testing to each step - if the issue is resolved after a reset, there's no need to restore.

Realised I can edit posts here, so have updated to make that clearer.
