The B&W shot is a lot darker posted than on my screen, need to sort out hosting somewhere so I can show what was shot properly ..... not really worth it with this shot thoughB/W suits the tree shot with the imposing sky.
Hole shot is original and a much better subject than a donut.
Many thanks Stuart, will look at the crop on the images taking on board what you have suggested. Brilliant suggestions and thanks for taking the time.Trees - I really like the graduating increase in the size of the trees along with drama in the sky. For me some more space at the top (right) and a crop at the bottom would take it up a notch.
Hole - A different take on the theme but still works. It's a bit tight at the right and I think the composition would work better with the pick guard (I had to google the name) being in the image.
Thanks Simon, I really wanted more from the sky but sometimes what you get is what you get, will take a walk up another day and see if I can out what I wanted. Both nice shots Scott. I love the trees shot, and I think it works well in B&W and the contrast in the overall shot, but especially the sky is good.
The guitar shot may be deceptively simple, but it's very effective and the tight crop and focus on the inside of the guitar rather than the outside works well.
Many thanks Simon, I have never been afraid of space in a pic and positioning subject way off centre……. Still not sure this is always a good thing though lol. Both are good shots, you captured the moody sky very well and I like how trees are positioned to the side.
Far too kind, thank youI think that you've done an admirable job for your trees shot Scott, the composition is sound and the processing is good.
I like how your chosen to focus through the hole to the back of the guitar, makes for an interesting image.

Too kind but thanks, got lucky with the coloursThe colour you've captured is lovely and the composition with clouds and rocks works.
Thanks Bebop, keep trying to imagine if I had more than a minute and an actual sunset lolThe colour of the sky is fabulous and the rocks in the foreground add interest. I don't think it matters that the sun is behind the clouds. Well done for getting up there quick.
Thanks Simon, had wondered if I had made the foreground too subdued, never even had a chance to do bracketed shots lolThat absolutely works. The colours and subdued light in the foreground work well and the rocks give a lovely central focus.

Thanks Dave, yeh we are our own worst critics that’s for sure. Appreciate the commentI think you picked the right one for the main thread but all are very good, with us photographers or me we always want our images tack sharp. For me I'd say they are sharp enough but we can be our own worst critique sometimes.
Many thanks Darkslinger, yeh it was the look of concentration on the face that made me think of the first image.Great set Scott, you definitely chose the right one. I like the look of concentration on the rider's face in shot #1.
haha imagine my surprise as well, quite a rabid support by looks of it too.Nice set of images. I don't even know such a sport exists. Looks like a fun sport too.
Thanks Simon, appreciate thatAll great shots Scott, but I love the chosen one.
Far too kind but appreciate the commentsI really like your bridge shot. Great colours and moody sky and I like the viewpoint you’ve chosen.
The Kelpies fit the bill perfectly, and I really like the parallel shot. I can understand that needed to be a quick shot, but you wouldn’t know it.
Agree on first shot being too dark, may well up the exposure a bit on this, thanks for that.Firstly all great shots Scott in my opinion.
Parallel - a little dark but that plays into the moodiness of the shot
Metal - always like to see shots of the Kelpies, I'd one day like to see them in person.
Treasure - really like this shot. Not sure what conditions you're waiting for but I think the clouds make a dramatic backdrop
