Changed to pic one now after some steerage from allIf you had to do ICM, I agree with Peter, #1 works best for me but I also agree with David, the last one is the best for "heavy"...
Thanks Simon, I rather wish I didn't have to do it ICM is one to be forgotten about lolFirst one for me Scott, I think because you can clearly make out the subject but the ICM and subsequent lines add something a bit surreal to it all.
Thanks Oy, defo fits the heavy billLast for me - no ICM but a great theme tick.
But if no one was there, did it make a sound???As you said not the best subject for ICM, last is best for theme, that must have gone down with a heavy thump.
Eventually went with no1, I suppose we can make out its a tree .....almost anyhooI rather like #5 but it doesn't fit the tech bill.. of the ICM shots I'm leaning towards #3 (no pun intended)
Many thanks Bebop, agree with y'all on this now. And thanks for the alley comment, need to go back and revisit these wee alleyways I thinkHeavy: I concur with @Darkslinger. Last best for heavy, but 1st if you have to tick the ICM box.
Alley: I immediately wondered if this was Edinburgh. I really like the reflections and the flash of red, and the viewpoint. Very nice.
Haha story of my life time ticking, just do something. Just wished I had found another location with that light that had a better foreground and less obtrusive path was all. Genuinely enjoying the challenge though.LOL, you're running into what we all probably run into, some shots that might fit the bill, time ticking down and the need to just post something...anything...
I think your shot meets the expectations of the challenge even if it's not necessarily what you wanted.
full on respect for landscape photographers that go back to get the perfect shot……. Be there at the exact time they need to be etc etc. Thanks for the comment.I thought of a woodland steaming shot myself but I know how hard it is to be in the right place at the right time.
Anyway, events conspired to keep me at home.
First one is the one IMO, nice beams shooting through the trees.
Don’t think I have ever had the perfect shot haha, thanks for the comment and hope I can get closerI think that works well. Might not be your perfect shot, but it fits the theme admirably
Thanks Oy, glad you weren’t put off ( too much) by the middle pathway.Works for me![]()
Photography is a funny ole game isn’t it, thanks AlanDifferent opinions, I quite like the path leading across the scene.
Trying to not do my normal f2.8 for everything lol, never done much(read any) landscape type shots so I have lots to learn. I’m lucky I have these woods literally on my door step so should explore more.I think you've got two decent images there and the path doesn't distract for me. I find in woodland it can sometimes be good to go for a low aperture and try to isolate individual elements.
it was the light that caught my eye too, just hope I did it justice. Many thanksVery Nice light in your 1st photo, colours are natural and no distraction from the path, its all part of the scene.
many thanks, I was lucky to have wandered past just at the right time to catch the light, as I said above I just hope that I did it justice.I think your chosen shot works well for the theme. The shadows give you nice leading lines to the sun - of courseLovely light!
Thanks for that Stuart, love the hulk comment, hadn’t thought of that but when you see it in the flesh it does look a bit like thatAlley - the reflections from the wet surface are great and the inclusion of a figure gives you somewhere to look towards
Heavy - the ICM on the first makes me think that the Hulk has lobbed the tree trunk and it's travelling fast horizontally, it's an interesting image
Light - the light on the main image is fantastic and really draws me in

Many thanksThat’s a good one.
Meets the challenge well on both counts.
it was a 2 sec exposure so tripod req in this case.It was obviously a long enough shutter to capture the light trail, was it handheld? I'm assuming if it was some body/lens stabilisation was needed.
Thanks SimonNicely done.
im all about plan z and beyond lolOh no! I wonder what comes after plan Z? I'm glad to hear you are allowed out now.
Really nice reflections on a very damp looking night. The light trails are a nice bonus. Two ticks in the box
back to normal now many thanksHope you feel better Scott. Plan Zv.2.0 seems to have worked.
lmao hahaI like that one, damp and reflections, some nice colours as well.
Covid must be bad your way, they haven't taken the xmas decs down yet.
cheers bootsI like it, that certainly works for me.
Thanks SimonNice set Scott. All great shots.![]()
Thanks Bebop for those nice comment, the blue sky in Scotland wasn’t even photoshoppe, it was however cold as a result lolI haven't come from the main thread, so I'm not certain which were your final choice, but...
Window - a great dilapidated building. No. 1 ticks the box best for me as you are looking through it. The B&W works well. Well exposed to get the interior too.
Technology - really like the simplicity of this shot. Not easy I imagine to get the light just right so you can see the mouse against the background.
Discarded - a sad sight, and on theme. The couple facing away from him are particularly poignant. Again a good choice for B&W.
Flora - ticks the box, and you managed to get some blue sky too.
Well done on catching up.
appreciate the comments PeterI'm tempted to copy and paste Bebop's post as it reflects my feelings exactly.
A good set of ideas well executed.

Massive challenge is lack of light, high ISO, very fast moving small subject and trying to find a WB that fits…….. on top of that find a composition and try focus. Sports photography is soo easyI love the unusual angle. Well spotted. Also I'm really liking the composition and depth of field in your velodrome shot. Is lighting a challenge in this situation?
I thought it might be. I was shooting football last night at ISO 12800 so I understand the problem. It does look challenging, but you cracked it.Massive challenge is lack of light, high ISO, very fast moving small subject and trying to find a WB that fits…….. on top of that find a composition and try focus. Sports photography is soo easyThanks again
