Just seen this thread and very tempted. Need to get the thumbs up form my wife :) But are there anymore places left?

Hi, all -

Yes, there are still a few places left, and we'd love to have you! I'm looking forward not just to the workshop, but also to getting away from an incredibly busy business for a few days. I've just booked a three-day shoot on the other side of the country working with an entire film and production crew (I typically work alone and with minimal equipment) as well as an 8-famly holiday shoot in Vail. I can't complain, but I can't wait to record the message on my voice mail that says, "I'll return your call in eight days...."

I need to get the venue the final count very soon, so if you're thinking about it but still need more information, or just a little push, please do contact me today if possible. I will be available until my shoot later this afternoon. I've heard from a few folks lately that they've just found this thread, so I think I'll post the info in the portrait forum just to be thorough. It never fails after a workshop that I'll get at least a few message saying, "I'd love to have attended, but I just found this thread." Always makes me feel bad.

Thanks, all!

- CJ

Right, just got confirmation. Count me in! Wooooo

I so would love to do this but I'm on holiday and don't get back until late Saturday night :bang:

Please keep us informed if you do another workshop, early in the new year (or sooner) would be great :D

Daniel, looking forward to meeting you!

Glen, I likely will be back in March or April, when I typically do my annual UK workshop. That's generally a three-day event, and I'm hoping to bring my whole family with me, God help me. I'll be looking into the planning for it once this workshop is past. The spring workshop is generally more advanced than this one will be and will have a slightly different focus, so the workshop this month is a good prep course for it.

It's getting close, and I'm getting excited!

- CJ

CJ, I definately can't do this one [short of a minor cash windfall], but will be seriously looking forward to your plans for March/April time. Good luck to everyone attending this workshop, hope you all have a great time and learn loads - I am sooo jealous ;)

As I'm fairly new to the forum I don't know any of the members that's going... So...as Cilla Black would say...What's ya name and where d'ya come from?
I'm Daniel, 18, from Nottingham. Is anyone else from Nottingham going?

Also, where is everyone staying?
As I'm coming from Nottingham so going to need a cheap hotel for 1 night me thinks.
And how many of you are staying in "Brightons sauciest hotel"? :)

I'm Paul, 40 and I live in Reading, Berks.
Beverley (Bubbs) is my girlfriend

We're still not sure if we're staying in Brighton or driving back home. Guess we've got to make a decision pretty soon lol!

..and I am Steve, bloody old (49) and guess where I live...
I'll be staying in London, as I need to spend some time with my aged Mother, but am up for an early meal if anyone wants..
djs - I have never met anyone from TP either, but my avatar was taken recently, so you ought to recognise me fairly easily..!
Steve

Steve - you're an infant!

OK, then, I'm CJ (you can call me Cheryl if you must, but I won't like you as much.) I'm a tattooed Irish-Italian redhead with a whip and boots. (That part was for you, Steve'sAPain.) Currently living in Denver, Colorado. Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Y'know, you are sounding more like the dominatrix I have so longed to meet, Madam CJ..
Cheers

Steve's a pain, as you'll find out !!!

Guys can anyone help me?

I'm struggling to get accomodation. I thought I'd make sure I can get travel and accomodation sorted before sending the payment to CJ (really sorry it's late)
There's been a few changes and I'm now going to have to get a few trains to get here instead of the car. So I would be arriving on the 19th and leaving on the 21st.
All of the hotels/lodges seem to be fully booked on the saturday.
The only ones I can find that are available are charging crazy prices.

I gotta sort a place to stay asap otherwise I think I'm gonna have to pull out. I'm looking at around £30 a night. Can't afford anything higher.
(please no backpacker or hippy hostel's)

Daniel,

I just sent you a PM. I booked a double room w/ single occupancy at the Cecil House Hotel at 30/night. I sent you their phone number.

- CJ

CJ - just wondering if I should bother bringing my tripod or not? Will we need one during the workshop?

John, you won't need one from a teaching perspective, but I can't really say as far as hands-on work. I will say that most people don't bring them.

thanks for the PM, unfortunately they don't have any single rooms left.

And I've just re-read your PM about getting double room for the price of a single. I asked the guy on the phone and he just said "I would have to charge you full price"

*sigh*

Was there any bartering involved at getting it at that price?

Just called them up again and told them about the £30 a night in a double room deal, and they wouldnt give me the same deal.
Was told it would be £50

I think its time to call it a night. Been searching for 5 hours

Daniel, just sent you another message. Hope it reaches you in time!

Hey, everyone! Just wanted to drop you all a line to say that I'll be leaving for the airport very early in the morning tomorrow, headed for the UK. Very much looking forward to it, and to meeting you all!

If you need to reach me from here on out, the best way will be via my blackberry e-mail at cj*cheryljacobsphotography.com or via PM through the forum.

See you all soon!

safe journey
and watch out for the (plane) parking at Heathrow!!!

Really looking forward to it now :D

me too! See you all on Saturday, should be fun!

Well, I am all ready for my flight tomorrow afternoon, when Kate points out to me that my flight is not at 4.30PM, but 10.20 AM - so, I can't go to work in the morning, won't be able to deliver the estimates I have been working on all afternoon, but I will get back in time to sort myself out...
Am I fit for this or what..?
As I write, we cannot see more than 5 metres, it is raining so hard, and the mist has come in so thick - we might need to move the car incase the raod gets washed away, and the airport might be closed if it continues...........
Might see you all Saturday - I'll be the rather damp looking bloke who isn't really sure where he is meant to be and when...

 I hope the weather sorts it's self out and your journey over goes ok Steve. I'll pack a towel in my camera bag for you, just in case

The weather in Brighton for the weekend is looking good - no rain predicted although it will be a little chilly.

See you all in a couple of days.
