We bought my eldest son a new Macbook Pro as a joint birthday/graduation present which he received on Saturday. Less than 24 hours later he managed to spill a whole glass of beer over it!
After pouring the beer out of it he (foolishly probably) tried powering it up... but it was dead.
He only had the standard one year limited warranty with no accidental damage cover or valid insurance so was expecting an expensive repair. This morning, he took it to the Apple store and after examining it the guy asked him if he wanted the good news or the bad news... Opting for the bad news first, they told him that the repair would probably be in the region of £900 (I'm guessing fried motherboard, marinated hard drive perhaps, goodness knows what!) The good news? Well as it was only 24 hours old, as a gesture of goodwill, they would do the full repair back to good as new condition... for FREE!!
Don't know about the rest of you but I'm pretty impressed, customer care like that seems too much of a rarity these days. Two years ago my son was an Apple hater but after this morning's experience he says he's a convert for life.
