It is fun, and quite satisfying especially when you pull the film out of the tank and see those wonderful ( carp in my case:D) images that you've taken.

Be assured we all get into a mess at some point and scr*w up.......that's why we come on here to receive sympathy/empathy and p**s taking to aleviate the stress:D

Seriously though it really is worth doing your own deving.......outlay to start with but soon pays for itself.:thumbs:

And, I wish I'd read the '101 ways to ruin a roll of film thread', as I've managed a few of those 'cock-ups' myself lol....

I looked at the Hooleyd one the other day thinking i may be able to add a whole roll there lol!... i'll look at the 101 one, it might prepare me a bit more :D

I've got one of them! NEVER lets me have the right club; hides my balls (and things to rest them on while I'm driving [Jaguar think of all drivers' comforts!]) in the wrong pockets and weighs a bloomin' ton, even with only 1/2 a set of clubs in it!

T, unless you start doing your own D&P (Developing and Printing), I'd keep winding the film all the way back into the canister - stops you needing to think twice as to whether the film you're about to load has been exposed already (we've probably all done a roll of double exposures that way!). The leader might get scratched but those first 2-3 inches of film rarely have any images on them anyway. I used to shoot a piece of card with my name and address on them on the first shot - just in case the lab lose the envelope... The way I most used to cock things up before DX coded film was to forget to alter the ISO (actually ASA back in those days!) setting on the meter - eventually I started slipping the box end into the holder on the back of the back. Finally, scanning is a PITA! Best to get the whole film scanned during D&P and use the scans as proofs to see if any of the shots are worth scanning yourself.

At the moment anything i do i worry i've done it wrong lol.. hopefully that will change given time and with the film i was worried i'd made extra work for Rob..

At some point i would actually like to give the whole thing a try, there seems to be a sense of satisfaction from seeing it through from start to finish and i kinda like that idea.... no rush as yet tho, i need to get used to the whole shooting film bit first:D

Then watch me panic!:lol:

If i wasn't having to ferry kids backwards and forwards after lunch i would have loved to have taken you up on that offer, i need to keep more of an eye on some of the meets, i tend not to look often as my time with out kids is limited and i don't have family close to dump and run:lol:
 
kids first always ,,,especialy if time with them is limited ,,make the most of now,they grow up so fast that you never hardly get to see them ,,i was suprised mikk said she wanted to come with me for the day ! oh and dont forget to take as many pics of them as you can now ,when they turn in to teenagers you won't get the chance .

No time away from them is limited lol!..they are teenagers well 2 of them, but my eldest now lives with his dad as he got a job down there with an F1 company, but my girl is a home body which is nice... but i have a 5yr old, he will be quite pleased i'm playing with the film camera because then it means he can use my 550d, which means more time out to play with them :banana:
 
just as long as you dont post his pics as your own ,,,,

I'll have a proper look when they are dry, exposure is harder to judge when they are still wet as the wet film looks darker than dry film. They seem to be a good set, plenty of detail in them. I'll post a couple up on here when I've scanned them if you want.

there'll be no problem T - your natural photographic talent will translate fine to film , and film is also a far more forgiving medium than digital in terms of not blowing out highlights. I'm just hoping the camera functioned properly and didn't let you down

It all appears to have worked fine, no tell tale signs of light leaks or sticky shutters/ aperture blades visible on the negs. :thumbs:
 
yay for filmic reliability - I wouldn't like to bet on a dslr having the same reliability after being stored for ten years in uncertain conditions
 
Well that was a huge bargain i just got!.... Popped in to Poundland to get some agfa vista for myself and Lee, they had loads and at the back of the jumbled pile were a few in celophone packs of 10, seeing as Lee wanted 5 as well i thought i may as well grab that instead of 10 loose boxes....at the checkout she scanned it at one item £1 instead of x10

so 10 films for £1 :banana::banana: So @Solo man no charge for the films, i'll send tomorrow :D

I've managed to get them scanned at last, my v500 seems to be on it's way out and has been playing up every time I try to scan :/

I'll upload a couple in a few minutes :thumbs:
 
Apologies for the dust, it appears to be under the glass in my scanner and I haven't got around to opening it up. Should be a nice easy clone job though.
