I have to say well done to the Op.
I have 5 kids,and if EVER any of them behaved like that they would be on the receiving end from me.
It's how my father brought me up,and it worked...
Certainly didnt see the kind of scumbags that roam the streets these days.. (Well-maybe only 1 or 2 :D)

I think I would have tried to laugh off the snowball attack but I'd like to think I'd have given him a boot in the balls like the OP did once the puch came in. I know what you mean about stuff like that ruining your day though.

what was he supposed to do ask for ID after he was punched? :shrug:

i would of done the same as stan to be honest, and if i was the youths father i would of probably given him another swift kicking if i found out.
 
Hmm, this thread has made interesting reading! Personally I'd have just walked away from the snowballs (I don't like fighting or confrontation!).

Having said that, if I'd then had someone take a swing at me, I'd have hit back immediately. The way I see it, if someone's going to take one swing, there's nothing to stop them taking a second, third, fourth, and then all their mates joining in, so it needs to be stopped quickly!

So on one hand, it could be said that the OP should have just walked away, but to be honest the little ....(trying to think of a word that won't be blocked by the swear filter).... 'things' could have just gone on and done it to someone else too. Getting kicked in the goolies probably put a stop to their ASBO behaviour, at least for the day.

As I said, I'd have walked away, but that in a sense is condoning this type of behaviour, and letting them know they can get away with it. So maybe it's people like me that are actually the root of the problem!

Is there any way of lodging this with the police, without starting an investigation? Just reporting it, so should the youths go to the police, your version is already on record?

To be honest, just be glad it all blew over, and all is good now. You're in full working order, as is your kit. Have a drink, put your feet up, and watch the snow falling, it's what I'm doing :D

They were lucky it wasn't me one of them took a pop at. I wouldn't have stopped at a kick to the groin, I'd have battered all of them, one by one. But then I am not one for keeping my temper.

I am sorry you can not read what was there
The government bit was ref the term 'Sexup' nothing about Stan and as for blocking anyone because you not agree with there view wel can you not just pass by?

The one thing a lot of you are missing is The action of confronting him and then kicking him is NO different to there actions in the first place so all that has happened is you have come down to there level and have not risen about them.
Two wrong do not make a right. How anyone can condone action like this I do not know.

becasue even if he was defending himself he could end up in court and done for hitting a minor.. he could be barred from anything to do with children and have trouble with a crb and he would be labled by the courts as someone who hits kids.... i and others pointed this out merely as a caution when dealing wiht people who could be under 18.... but then thats been explained multiple times in this thread already....
 
I haven't the time nor inclination to read the whole thread, so if my suggestion has been made before apologies.

I'd have taken their photos and informed them that I was going to post them on to all the local cottaging websites I could find offering their young tender behinds for all takers. Maybe I'd print off some posters and put them on lamp posts around the town saying the same thing. :naughty:

Then I'd have then simply forwarded it to the police with a complaint about the assault.

yeah i understand that, im just saying - in the eyes of the law - was stan supposed to check the youths id before defending himself..

im not having a dig at anyone posting in here that hitting a minor is probably going to get you in to trouble..

I think it's easy to take the moral highground now, but if some wee git has just soaked your gear and then had the cheek to take a swing at you, the first thing that enters your head is to hit them a whack.

IMO there is a massive difference.
They were obviously out to cause trouble or upset somebody or whatever you want to call it.
Stan just happened to be there and they picked on him. He was provoked by the way they treated him, they were provoked only by his presence.

you really are unbelievable chaz...if i had not defended myself,who's to say he wouldn't have had another pop,or another.....etc.

i reacted in a way i saw as diffusing the situation,ie stop him in his tracks.the fact he may,or may not have been 18 doesn't come into it as far as i'm concerned...being that age does not give him the right to assault me,not once,but twice.

i really do think you need a reality check,or live in the real world like most folk do.
