...a second home - a holiday home if you will, anywhere in the world...where would it be, and why?

One of 2 options.. both my daughter and i for years have said we would love to emigrate to Australia, sea sun out door living.

My other option would be a nice little french cottage... red wine garlic nice food.. quaint villages.... i have never been to either but i can have my dreams can't i.:D

If it wasn't for the kids i think i would go like a shot, i don't have anything major keeping my here.

Spain

Why?

1. The weather
2. The photography opertunities - great modern cityscapes, old architecture, nice mountains in the Pyrannees and sierra nevada.
.
Since having two holidays here and seeing ricardoforces threads, I have planned when I retire, I will move over

No surprises from me! Western Crete, just West of Chania city and a mile or so inland. While it's a popular holiday island, there's also plenty of real life over there so many of the restaurants and bars are open year round. Sea swimming is a viable option up until Christmas (apparently!)

We did actually think quite seriously about it a few years ago but then I got ill and it drove home just how good the NHS is when it's needed - not sure I'd still be alive had it happened over there. Besides, if we did buy somewhere, it would be as a home for us rather than as a holiday let so we would want to spend somewhere close to €100,000 on a place (inc furnishing etc.) and we can have bloody good holidays for the rest of our lives for that!

Stevie. ..why?
Because I'm a nosy byatch....no other reason...ask anyone :-)

Nod, I could almost have written your reply for you :-)

I just love Spain, I think about it, it's my life plan to get over there as soon as I can retire/win the lottery etc.

I've explored the basque region and the mountains above Barcelona, it's simply magical up there.

After you, cowboy :)

Well it's probably not for the reasons you think.

I don't drink (and haven't done for over 8 years) so Red Stripe, Rum and Malibu etc are off the menu. I don't smoke or do drugs so that rules out the stereotypically obvious (tell me I'm wrong). I'm not a sun worshiper, tho I don't mind it. I'm married so it ain't for the wimmin and meh nah batty bwoi dem. So that rules that line out as well. Hmmmmmmmm!!! What's left?:)

Your addicted to coconuts

Cricket?

Music was my thought too

Of course it is. Nailed.

Been a lover since I first heard Desmond Dekker in 1970. Got heavily into Rasta Roots and Dub etc a few years later and have never given it up.
Obviously the Skinhead side has a huge Ska influence too(not that Two Tone muck churned out in the early 80's:rolleyes:). I can't do without it and never will.

In fact I'm off down to Dundee tonight to a Skinhead Reggae, evening that one of my mates organises and DJ's at. Mental and brilliant. Get in!!

I think as much as you'll deny it, that you have a mushy side. Ans I think it's just because it's a beautiful place. End of :-)

I honeymooned there and it is a beautiful if sometimes intimidating place. I long to return!

Cape Town. The light, weather, wine, food, sport, scenery, wildlife ... if only they didn't have the issues :(

I don't holiday, so no desire for a holiday home.

Perth Road - also known as the Speedwell. Real ale pub. Kind of famous (or infamous)

Right, I'll be in Perth Road too. I'll have the wife with me too (just to prove the point for that other thread). I might pop along and cause some aggro. How will I know you??:D

I'll be the one in an England shirt getting bottles thrown at me :)

Brash will be wearing his 1990 Costa Rica shirt :D

No, actually I shall be wearing white Mikkel Rude Sta-Prest trousers, a sky blue and black, window pane checked, short sleeved, button down shirt, a yellow Paisley pattern cravat, a bespoke navy blue Harringtone jacket (real expensive from my tailor on Glasgow), oxblood polished Royal brogues and plain yellow socks. Sharp as!!

Brash...given that combo of colours, when you're suited and booted, you have to post a pic, because just reading it all I'm getting is Ronald McDonald :-)
