If i never see a *** picture again it will be too soon.

People trying to sell expensive camera gear and advertising the goods by taking utterly crap phone pics of them.

What is the bloody point?

I was just going to mention that Ade  I was watching a Lens on Fleabay that went for £600+ and you couldnt even make out the numbers on it. If your selling a lens at that price you should be able to take a decent photo AGHHHHHH!!!!! :bang:

Milky waterfalls
Milky sea
Milky rivers
Piers in milk
Peninsulars surrounded by milk
Islands in milk
St Michaels Mount... in MILK

Water is not made of milk and it doesn't look like it's made of milk. I hope this helps ;)

I am with you all the way on this one. I loathe milky.

Photographically lactose intolerent then? :D

I'm not a fan of milky water but several of my recent gallery additions are of just that, from long exposures of waves on a beach to a waterfall. In my defence, they were taken to illustrate what the effect is at relatively short exposures (under a minute ayway) rather than for any artistic merit. I do like a couple of them but for the memories they evoke rather than anything else.

Back on track. After my rant about milky everything the rest of this thread has caused many other horrors to pass through my little brain...

Children with food on their faces
Models trying to look "moody" (usually with a leather jacket over their shoulder)(usually in B&W against a brick wall)
Cats (unless playing with fragmentation mines)
Children without food on their faces

We're all guilty of the inability to walk away from a scrap on here ;)

Nayhow: pictures of food...outside of cookbooks.
Especially when I'm hungry! And I am guilty of doing it myself.

In fact, i shoot a lot of the things I say i hate ... but hey .. .

me too

Looks like a few recurring ones here. Milky water and hdr, no surprise there, but children! you grumpy old things!;)

I was going to add Kites as I didn't see them mentioned, but then noticed Daryl had (along with every other topic under the sun :D )

:thinking:As an amateur just starting... That's about everything I was going to take pictures of! :bang:

I was thinking the same thing, and was thinking of trying hip street photography as well, was quite excited about that

Eye pops, it works very rarely but normally looks like a demon child has been born.

1. HDR
4. Overcooked HDR's of mens genitals in milky water.

is that really whats going off in Nude and Glamour, better go and have a look:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:;)

Love Hands...you know fingers and hands contorted into a vaguely deformed heart shape.

At least you can hide from bad photography, this international hand gesture seems to haunt me everywhere I look these days....:help:

My wife does this... it's very annoying... and embarrassing. She sees nothing wrong with it. I often go to the bathroom while she instagrams her gastronomical delight.

Perhaps Instagram your bathroom efforts and she how she likes that?

:) It's technically the same food she photographed... :)

Much more PP though!

good thread  so i'm pretty much allowed to take pictures of planes then. Nobody has really whinged about pictures of planes  best get saving for a 600mm f/4 :D

Welllllll, now you mention it, as much as I LOVE aircraft, I always have done, I'm not sure how many more pictures of Boeings on final approach on a plain sunny day I can take  (Hint: nearly all taken from the port side, near the same airport, from the same place in the same road at roughly the same time of day .....when they're using 27L ;) ).

A place I've spent many an hour, although I've shot Airbus planes from there too! Great spot in summer, the nearby petrol station sells booze and the field at Myrtle Avenue makes a pretty pleasant place to shoot arrivals while sinking a few Tyskies! :D

I do a lot of aviation photography and it can be artistic/creative sometimes but the vast majority of the time it's just record photography. I can appreciate a thread of good quality side-on shots because I'm a total plane geek and shoot a lot of planes myself but I can very easily see why general viewers would get bored very quickly, that's the reason I tend to keep my aviation stuff on dedicated aviation sites and non-aviation stuff on my Flickr.

One thing shooting aviation has done for me, particularly as a result of uploading to aviation sites that reject images below a certain standard, is it's pushed me to learn more about getting the best out of my camera. That's helped me with shooting other things and it's something I'm pretty grateful for. :)

BLACK & WHITE, BLACK & WHITE BLACK & WHITE, BLACK & WHITE BLACK & WHITE, BLACK & WHITE BLACK & WHITE, BLACK & WHITE BLACK & WHITE, BLACK & WHITE

Sorry - not a great fan of B&W, I have been seeing the world in colour since. . . well . . . since I was born so the idea of making any photo bland and mono tone is something I just can't get my head around!

.DAVID.

PS: may have already have mentioned it but thought it worth bringing up again - oh and did I also mention the creator of HDR should be found / gagged / beaten almost to death / revived and then repeat the entire process again!!!!

So if we say
People
Landscapes
Food
Animals
Hdr
Milkyness

That should cover it. Are we ok with planets?

I agree with David Stallard - Black and White. Rubbish! I want to see it properly!

Street photography when they stick a camera in an old persons face to make them look scared.

I agree completely. Humans have evolved colour vision - use it! We dont live in 1923 any more!

Is 1923 a meaningful date.... not sure if this is a clever comment that has gone over my head....or whether it's just a random date?

Pictures of dog poo.

Should say "live" not like. Predictive text gone wrong.

Either way, we dont NEED black and white any more. Colour photography exists so no more need for mono!
For the same reason nobody watches black and white TV any more.

mono is only bland if you're not very good at it.......

Maybe art galleries should ban pencil and charcoal sketches and only show colour paintings.
