If i never see a *** picture again it will be too soon.

rjbell - your avatar pic is a good B+W shot, the stuff I am supposed to look at is easy to see clearly, I like it. Some busier B+W shots just seem to lose detail and I sometimes find myself straining my eyes to see better, maybe that's because they're poorly done though.

I'd also like go add photos of birds to my hate list. They're just boring. And glamour shots, tacky as hell.

Surprisingly , no ones mentioned Macro.

Same old boring insects eyes and bees on flowers.

Yes... plus one for this.

Technically way beyond anything I'm capable of but seen one....seen them all.

I love B&W too, hate people who just click grey-scale, but donw right, it can look so much nicer than colour. SO what you see in colour? I don't see why that matters.

BLACK & WHITE, BLACK & WHITE BLACK & WHITE, BLACK & WHITE BLACK & WHITE, BLACK & WHITE BLACK & WHITE, BLACK & WHITE BLACK & WHITE, BLACK & WHITE

Sorry - not a great fan of B&W, I have been seeing the world in colour since. . . well . . . since I was born so the idea of making any photo bland and mono tone is something I just can't get my head around!

.DAVID.

PS: may have already have mentioned it but thought it worth bringing up again - oh and did I also mention the creator of HDR should be found / gagged / beaten almost to death / revived and then repeat the entire process again!!!!

Dancers are thought to be mad by those who don’t hear the music.;)

I guess I am on the love B&W camp, its the way I shoot. Its my vision for my personal work......maybe I am colour blind at times! Its interesting to hear from people that hate it because we don't have colour vision. But neither do most people see in two dimensions. Its a age old thing colour vs b&w, but there is no right answer. We can also now add digital vs film to that list now!

But also really really hate it when its something is done badly.....this can be said with B&W....colour.....Instagram photos in general and photoshop/lightroom presents.

I came across this page to share, maybe its off the topic but there are some good points. I guess I find it kind of funny in a way and food for thought!

All this talk reminds me of an old picasso story....

“Señor Picasso, you are a great artist, but why is all your art, all modern art, so screwed up? Why don’t you paint reality instead of these distortions?” Picasso hesitates for a moment and asks, “So what do you think reality looks like?” The man grabs his wallet and pulls out a picture of his wife. “Here, like this. It’s my wife.” Picasso takes the photograph, looks at it, and grins. “Really? She’s very small. And flat, too.”

;)

Picasso knew what was what ;)

People say we don't see in B&W, so why shoot it? Well, you don't see pushed vibrance, clarity, sharpness ... pulled back high lights or detail in dark shadow with the naked eye either. So anyone moaning about B&W should stop processing altogether really.

This is one of my favourite stories and why I, personally, think the whole "a photograph should show reality" type of idea is utter nonsense.

Every time I take a photo that "shows reality", and I do, I wonder why I bothered.

To be clear, this is just my personal way of thinking. Each to their own.

I love black and white, I am just not any good at it. I have just bought Africa by Sebastio Salgado, which has some incredible, and moving, black and white images.

On topic one other thing I am not keen on are photos which have had a fake border added to make it look like they were taken on slide film. Why would you do that?

Instagram has a cool filter that does that, it's amaaaaazing!

Ahem. I jest, of course... (Although I do have an Instagram account but never use that particular filter...) :naughty:

What a good job this is just a 'for fun' thread ehh - oh and B&W is still rubbish :p

.DAVID.

I think we can guess your name by now, no need to sign off each time :D

HDR is one of the worst for me. I can never understand why lovers of it cannot resist going to town on the sliders in Photomatix, or whatever they use.

"Slight Halo there, hmmm ... best keep pushing it then, make it a feature!"

HDR, over exposed trout pout girls in the Myspace Pose. Babies.

I have to admit to quite liking the "milky sea" shots, sorry :D

Maybe the user is ashamed to use digital and wants everyone to think they still use film.

On a similar theme I hate canvas prints, it's a photograph not a painting so why pretend that it is?

A serious comment in a funny thread :D

Basically, we hate it all, probably because we perceive whatever subjects we have each listed as "not original" or "over done".... when in fact the list of subjects we do like, the ones we actually take, are also on this list and also over done.

If your idea is that your work is totally original and you hate everything else as "unoriginal", slap yourself up the side of the head and get a grip.

That being said, I still hate photos of children :D
