Generally oversharpening means you can see the artefacts of sharpening. Typically this will be seen by "ringing" across high contrast edges. Ringing is where you get alternating light/dark lines around an edge. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ringing_artifacts
Also, sharpening also sharpens noise, so you can sometimes see increased speckling. IMHO, you should have the image at 100% to enable you to see the effect sharpening has on the image.
Does anyone know of a rough guide to sharpening? I'm worried about oversharpening and sometimes I think I don't sharpen enough.
Also I'm using LR and there is a sharpen on export option - and I'm not sure if that should or shouldn't be added if sharpening already done. (Currently I'm applying some sharpening as I go along and then exporting with 'sharpen for screen'.)
