Hi all.

I keep seeing people saying that some pic's are over sharpened.
How can you tell if it is when I am processing? Still learning the computer side.

Generally oversharpening means you can see the artefacts of sharpening. Typically this will be seen by "ringing" across high contrast edges. Ringing is where you get alternating light/dark lines around an edge. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ringing_artifacts

Also, sharpening also sharpens noise, so you can sometimes see increased speckling. IMHO, you should have the image at 100% to enable you to see the effect sharpening has on the image.

Does anyone know of a rough guide to sharpening? I'm worried about oversharpening and sometimes I think I don't sharpen enough.

Also I'm using LR and there is a sharpen on export option - and I'm not sure if that should or shouldn't be added if sharpening already done. (Currently I'm applying some sharpening as I go along and then exporting with 'sharpen for screen'.)

Go into the tutorials section, there are several in there.
Hacker has produced one specifically for eyes and also one for the whole image.
