Or at least ideas for suitably representing F&C and generating some interest in film at the megameet.

@stevelmx5 mentioned a chap who demonstrates wet plate collodian.

Perhaps some deving demos?

Let people have a play with some cameras - dev, scan and print results on day?

Make people aware of the costs. EG Bronica SQ-B with speedgrip, 2 backs and 3 lenses for about £350.

Etc, etc.

We have plenty of time and I'm sure, between us, we could come up with a fine exhibit and activities.

The floor is open.

Excellent idea, happy to bring a selection of cameras, scanners, dev'ing gear. I might even be able to get my hands on a neg dryer if it hasn't gone to the tip.

Biggest ass LF you can get your hands on and give the miniature shooters sensor envy!

Oh yeah, definitely need some of the LF boys there.

I don't think that I'd have much to offer though, apart from blitzing the event with my 50p camera.

That in itself is worth showing - especially with the results you get from them.

How about a demo of the smallest format cameras in use by one of us through to one of the largest, with a display of cameras, negatives and prints?

Definitely agree about the display of all negative sizes available to give a comparison against the digital kit. I should have a finished LightBlock by then to display them ;0)

Also, us filmies think voodoo is involved in developing film so being able to display that to non-filmies has to be done. I'm also happy bringing along my digital NEX kit showing the crossover of film lenses being used on Mirrorless bodies?

Will a Marion whole plate set up from 1890 do? Or a thornton pickard triple extension half plate?:D

I would bring both if coming by car........as it is i could bring a selection of subminiatures such as ensign, coronet,, univex, merlin, ticka, stylophot...........most work though somewhat awkward to load with film simply because 35mm or 16mm film has to be manipulated to fit along with suitable backing paper and then the resulting images are........well, from miniature negs! :D
Perhaps an idea if i preload them with film prior to leaving home assuming its worth while bringing them.

Anyway i reckon there will be someone else who has similar if not more fascinating gear to take along........

I could drag several 10x8's along or assemble a six foot long version of one for kicks.

Dragging a drum scanner along might be a bit impractical though but I could drag some 40" wide prints along to crush all those opposing us with detail.

Covering all the film formats inc 110, 126, 828, etc?.......if it helps i can bring some original unexposed films in the old film formats,

Would it be feasable to offer portrait shots to people using a LF set up dating back to c.1900 with a view that they go away with a négatives/ positive result in their hand............that might go down a treat.

If you can bring some of the really small stuff along that you've put film through, especially the Midgets, that would be great and shouldn't take up too much space in you cabin baggage.

Stop it :0) I was stupidly close to buying another Kowa Six last week before someone annoyingly jumped in and bought it before me!

I've got my third roll of Vista in my Eos30 to finish then need to get them all developed before I decide what to do. I haven't even got them developed and am already expecting to want 120 again....it's like a drug!

I can throw in a nice roll of slide-film in for free

A couple of boxes of foma wouldn't be too dear a you could always put a hat out to aid towards the costs.

Hmmm, Miniature Speed Graphic...if I'm going Medium Format again, how about something completely different

A mju and those xa could be a good shout, ff in a very pocketable package. Maybe a copy of the article on scanning from a few weeks ago.

I still think that one of the single most impressive things is seeing slide film come out of the tank... if someone could set up a "shoot a couple of frames and pass it on" with a reliable MF camera, then get the half-dozen shooters around a table while "their" film went into the soup, it'd be worth the film cost to see thier faces when the miniature stained glass windows come out of the tank... always more impressive than negative stock to the layman, because it's a "finished article"...

^^ Definitely. Whilst I've never developed E6 myself, even taking the the first developed negatives out of the envelope from AG was a memorable moment.

How did you read my mind from that far away?

could also do a variation on the Travelling Holga... Probably better with a 35mm camera, but just hand the camera to someone and say take 2 shots and pass it on... swap film until everyone who's there has shot a couple of frames, and after the meet, post them up in "contact sheets" and or a slideshow...

At Focus a few years back, Harman were doing portraits while you wait using their direct positive paper and a 10x8 camera. The paper was processed round the back, and as it's ortho, a red safelight is OK. I don't know if anyone could rig up a dark tent (or even has a Nova one) but it's a possibility I suppose, and I even have a box of 5x4 direct positive paper.

It's years since I last processed any slides (I think 1980) but I did once do it at an evening class - take the photos and then process. It was easier in those days because I think temperatures were lower, and a washing up bowl with water at the right temperature was good enough.

I'd like to think that just letting people see the effect on image shape and position of depth of field on a ground glass screen as you use movements could be an eye opener. But I'm easily impressed.

SKILL :D:D:D
So what / who's camera and who's shooting /deving.......i'll be otherwise engaged doing summat unimportant :D:D

A fully manual camera, maybe with a built in light meter, maybe not :naughty:

This has got our quiet little room roused, I'll send Roberts down for another case of the good whisky keep the grey matter well lubricatted.

Nah no meter ........they need to learn how to develop skills of how to become a "réal" tog........box brownie, one aperture, one shutter speed, one impossible to see what ya looking at viewfinder and no automated film advance...........i can sée thé looks of horror already :D

I was thinking of something slightly alien to most of them - a rangefinder, without metering, something like my Fed3a only with a shutter curtain that isn't 90% fabric paint... Especially if when they pick up the camera you can whisper in their ear about the lens being radioactive...

We need a few LF chaps on board. Details nearer the time perhaps.

Hand them an MF folder and a Weston and tell 'em to get on with it.:D

An excellent idea.

Hand it over with a slightly concerned whisper asking if they've finished having kids....

@Yv, do we have any numbers on how many people turned up for last year, I was thinking 35mm purely from a point of view of not having to change film as often if theres 80 people say... 12 frames on 120 doesn't go far between that number of folk...
