I won't shoot gay weddings: am I odd?

...When will this topic to be closed? I find this offensive as I am Gay

Really???

I'm not gay so I won't pretend to understand what it's like to be, although I have been labeled as gay more times than I can remember. I can't see though, even turning the thread round to angles that would affect me, how it would offend me. It's just talk, words on your screen that you can choose to read or ignore.

True, lots of the things this thread says about our society do scare and worry me deeply. Was it Einstein that said "the only difference between genius and stupidity, is that genius has limits"?

You say I can choose to read or ignore the topic. Well I am not going to ignore it. I want to do something about it and that is to close the topic as there is no point to discuss about people uncomfortable with the homosexual.

There is people who have problems with homosexual people and we are not ignoring the issues, we want to do something about it. That is why we have gay prides and more to show the awareness and that people should accept the homosexuality.

Why? , its because of this that PC has gone mad in this country...

Can you not appreciate that being told that YOU make people feel uncomfortable might actually upset someone?

Are you really THAT insensitive?

That's got nothing to do with PC, that's treating another human being with the dignity they surely deserve.

I make people feel uncomfortable because of my skinhead and tatoo's do i give a f*** no. Don't be easily offended just because someone feels uncomfortable about you , if someone hits you for being who you are or throw's insults then thats a different matter.!

Is there only me who doesnt see the point in this thread?

Some opinions here Im disgusted with, others I can accept, while some I can actually relate to.

At the end of the day we all carry our own personal feelings on what we find acceptable in the tapestry of life, but my strongest opinion on this here forum is that discussions on sexuality, race, & religion are best avoided in order to keep the TP friendly ethos at the fore.

Play nicely people ... we all have feelings!

Well that says day

...and that says night.

So, where do we go d-pipa? Do we shut down any discussion about intollerance, homosexuality, or anything else for that matter. Or do we* march with pride and open mouths, inviting people to come together and grow some understanding?

Preferably with lots of non PC straight (pun not intended) talking.

* that's a we, as in society rather than you and me btw. Although I'd happily go on a gay pride march, as long as there's a pub or two along the way. ;)

I find it an interesting read, but don't see it in any way photography related anymore. Has certainly made me see some people on here in a different light.

I wasn't going to post anything on this thread but i was just thinking the same myself Jimmy ( i can see the next tp meet could be fun :)) I really can't understand some people in this world everyone is diffrent and how can anybody say they hate someone until they know them properly for who they are not what they are (im off to take some motorsport pics to annoy dave )

Thats okay.

Its just when people talk, they keep saying they are uncomfortable with the homosexual people: I find this offensive.

Believe me Dean after 20 years or so of it it wears off. In the end hearing the same old things over and over again eventually gets boring and then you don't hear it any more. I'd be rich if I'd got 50p every time I heard 'some of my best friends are gay' or 'I work with someone who is gay and he seems a nice enough chap'.

I go back to what I said earlier. If someone felt uncomfortable about it (and nothing is ever going to change that), I would never have wanted them to, or force them, to photograph my civil partnership. The negative vibes are bound to show somewhere.

As far as 'offensive' goes I don't easily get offended these days. All this discomfort that's being expressed makes me sad but on a practical level, I don't really give a toss. Life's too short to be offended by that. Save the feeling for something really offensive, it'll come along.

Gay pride marches. Done lots of them, London and Manchester. Great photographic events. I'd put up some shots but then someone might get 'offended' again and then again I don't have model releases or anything. Mind you I can't help feeling that if you go on a Pride march you have given up all pretences anyway. There must be lots of shots of me doing the rounds with the leather and the chains and everything ;)

What's the view on some Pride shots then? Is it worth me getting out the scanner?

i'm closing this now

as i see it the OP has had his answer and the thread is so far off topic now it's of no relervance to the a photography forum
