I now believe there is a real suppression of some news items

And still being watched by big brother :D

No one could have dreamed we were being scrutinized
as someone with a microscope studies creatures
that swarm and multiply in a drop of water
Few man even considered the possibility ....................

Oh wait a minute that's supposed to be about Martians isn't it?

Yet we still choose to use it. :)

Yet we still choose to use it. :)
We have no choice really do we? its ingrained into our culture, if you think about it, with no agenda, daily life has been moving towards eThis and eThat for quite a few years.
Cars are tagged either by sat-nav, anti theft devices, or road side cameras.
In seriousness, I know there is no going back, but I just wonder where it will all end?

But we do have a choice. Lots of people don't use the internet at all, let alone posting daily on a public forum. Older cars and phones without smart Tech/GPS can be got very easily too. We're free not to use the Tech if we don't want to, for whatever reason.

But I have to ask, what are you worried might happen to you?

However, we're not free to avoid the many ANPR cameras beside/above roads and in police cars which can report on most of our movements in or on our vehicles. Even non smart phones can be tracked by their proximity to the service providers' antennae.

totally disgusting ,in every possible way .it would cause uproar over here some of us have long memories of family who died fighting the nazi bastards ,brilliant my f*****g arse :lock::lock::lock::lock::lock:
Well.. I take it you missed the story completely. I've got a spare bucket if it would help you carry the plot?

Satire is sometimes above some people's comprehension level.

I would suggest there is still far greater freedom, both for the press and for individuals, than was available in this country for at least 10 years after WW2 finished. Not that I approve in any way of the removal of freedoms and imposition of monitoring, however I also wonder if we haven't lived through a time when so much freedom has brought licence to abuse that freedom and a lack of a sense of personal responsibility for ones actions.

If I was really that worried, that disaffected by the soceity I live in, I'd find a way. Wouldn't you?

Lots of people don't use the internet at all,
And decreasing rapidly I bet, even people of my parents age are using it now.
Kids are using it from what? 2/3 years old? they are being bought up with it, and give it no heed just like their parents, a lot not much more than children themselves.

Older cars and phones without smart Tech/GPS can be got very easily too.
Nod covered that, but again its human nature to covet the best cars and phones.
( not that I do ) and everything is being run by computers, from instant payment to turning up your heating before you get home,
It just worries me slightly that we are putting all our faith in computers and technology, and letting it control our lives, as a matter of course.

But I have to ask, what are you worried might happen to you?
That I die before I see where this is all finally ending up.
And not being able to say, I told you so, when it all goes tits up :D

There'd be a lack of tits if we didn't have computers...

My comments are thought out, yours offer no response apart from sarcasm, once you reach that level you know you have lost (y)

Game, set and match

I couldn't live like that, it must be a nightmare. :(

If I was that worried, I'd be off.

Yup. And in this case the satire is using a very uncomfortable subject for Germany to address an issue their facing today. The channel that's commissioned it, ZDF, is deeply conservative and not generally associated with taking risks.

Without giving too much away. The main characters are two young male neo-Nazis who live together in Berlin flat. One day a young black woman rings the bell. She's got a young daughter. She'd met one of the young men at a demonstration several years ago. She say this is our daughter, I've looked after her for six years now it's your turn. She introduces the daughter to her father as the "man who didn't get in touch after bad sex". She has to leave, to return to Eritrea, "immigrants out, you know how it is". The rest of the episodes are the two men confronting the reality they've decided to hate but have never come face to face with at a personal level. It's a journey of education and change for them.

The parallels with modern Europe and refugees from beyond our shores is obvious. Confronted with someone in need on your own doorstep it's harder to dismiss them so easily in the manner of the political independence/alternative movements on the near- as well as far-right.

My thoughts are reasoned and thought out. I try to make them on multiple levels when possible.

...and accurate :)

I'm glad you are (y)

Not the Nazi's no.

However my parents did fight in WWII and my grandfathers fought in WWI.
for freedom of speech and against oppression.

That is being slowly eroded away, with camera's everywhere, and being told by politicians, making legislation at every oppertunity, "its because its good for you"
If you are happy to be tagged and logged via you mobile phone and other electronic devices at every turn, then that's cool.

Yes I know the age old argument, if you are doing nothing wrong it doesn't matter, unfortunately that seems to fall down with the amount of crimes that continues, what ever they maybe.
Can't you see that we'll end up like the Astronauts on the space station shortly? ( hopefully not in my life time) being told when to sleep, when to eat, what to do and when.

George Orwell was another visionary..

So your parents and grandparents did something. What have you done rather than sit on the internet and moan?

That's not the worrying part, the big one now is vigilante dashcam drivers or cyclists, or false internet outrage.

In some ways, sex/porn has driven the internet technology. Video streaming, secure payment over the internet, all sorts of things we take for granted these days

...and accurate
Let me know when you can disprove anything I've said.
Save me a place, just like Arnie I'll be back, but for now, I have stuff to do

No, I mean so distrusting and suspicious of the soceity I live in. It must be quite wearing.
I'm not actually sure I said that anywhere, I just stated a few facts about the society we live in, and the way we are constantly monitored.
That is a fact, if you choose to ignore it then fine, no problem.
Does it bother me? not particularly. if people refuse to see what's under their nose, that's their choice
Am I upset about it on your or anyone else behalf? Nope live like you wanna live.

. What have you done rather than sit on the internet and moan?
Quite frankly, that's none of your business TBH.
You can believe what you want

As with so much technology. Sex sells and helps to pay for technological breakthroughs :)
But maybe not what was intended by the creation of the WWW

But the whole "big brother" fear is born of distrust and suspicion of authority, is it not?

I don't disbelieve you, I just tend not to be too bothered by it.
There's a limit to what is interesting to the snoopers. I doubt I'm that important.

Good chatting to you :)

I wonder, if rationing was brought in today, how many people would consider it "oppressive"?

Quite a few, I'll bet. :)

Is that likely?

can't remember the exact term used ,but read isaac azimovs foundation and empire novels and ,you will see this has a sound basis ,control the masses by letting them think they have free will and you will rise to control the masses ,i believe hitler had the same ideas in mein kampf

So:

if we're denied free will, we're prisoners.

If we have free will, we're still prisoners.

And remotely listened into as well, simply by sending a hidden sms ;)

Being the husband of an ethical hacker I'm the majority here doesn't even begin to imagine what is possible and the footprints left to gather through open source intelligence gathering.

That would be your biggest mistake to believe that in my opinion.

No, the www was created to share pictures of kitehs! :P
