I love John Malkovich!

Those are very clever, couple stand out as not quite working Guevara being one but only because the others work well.

Already been posted somewhere.

Mick Jagger (Bailey) one is good.

To be honest though, nice lighting work in most to recreate it.. and Malkovitch is a legend, but as a photographic project, it's a bit lame. Just something you can do as a plaything when you have a budget and some publicity money behind you. If it was someone unheard of instead of Malkovitch, we'd just be saying "What's so great about copying someone else's work?" :) I'd be more impressed if the original work was appropriated somehow like in Less Américans (Henna).

An interesting project which has made me think about what a good portrait, and good acting, should be. (Which is no bad thing, tbh...)

The original subjects were shot being themselves and their faces reflect their lives, experiences, emotions and thoughts at that moment. JM, in trying to emulate them, has been made to resemble them but can have no idea what was going in behind the subjects' eyes at the time. The original subjects look variously worried, scared, manic, thoughtful or a bit bored, and that shows in their eyes. JM, in attempting to emulate the expression, can have no real idea what thoughts or emotions were driving the subject at the time and so his own face looks like that of a man simply trying to look like someone else, with none of the underlying drivers.

Good images, well shot, and a good "learning" reference but I prefer the originals in every case.

I thought his Hemingway was Oliver Reed!!
