Also very trueand you were in the company of a lady, so I don't think you fit the profile.
I'm not sure inflatable ingrid his plastic pal qualifies as a lady

I'm not sure Sarah, all I know is I'm not feeling the same passion I once had for this forum...in used to love spending plenty of time in all the critique sections but just struggle to do even that now![]()

That aside the main thing that put me off the crit is the dummy spitting - that is a natural consequence of the site getting larger , and indeed of the prevailing flickr/facebook culture which we see across the whole interwebs
. or maybe I'm just getting old.
to be fair i'd suspect you are taking some time to bounce back from all that s***e last year... it affected me the same way but Iam more of a gobs***emay be harder to hurt

I find I have to push for crit on my photos. I have had photos completely ripped into, BUT it was constructive. I would rsther that than no crit. It anoys me when you title some thing with crit and no one replys, I usually assume because the photos are no good but would still like to know why. Constructive crit to me is very important in the lurning curve
4 - "Well my clients like it" - an attitude that is helping to destroy Pro 'quality' work
I will take that advice, thanksI appreciate that's annoying, but giving 'proper' crit is actually quite hard and I've been 'trained' to do it too and I've acted as judge at club comps
If it helps - when asking for crit give as much info about the shot as you can and especially what the aim was too, and if you can also pinpoint the area you want crit on (rather than 'everything about it') that also helps
Dave

Fully agreed. Seems not a thread goes by these days without some trolling/baiting/general bickering.Seems very few parts of the forum don't end up in some part of a p***ing contest these days...what on earth happened to the community spirit that was here a couple of years ago...and I don't really buy the idea of the community has got larger being the cause as the level of active members seems to be pretty static even though the total membership has risen...

I could have sworn I saw her lips move, no matterThreads, and indeed members, are easily avoidable.
The worst thing anyone ever says is if they are accusing the other of doing something with a goat.
Sheep are soooo yesterday lolThat made me laugh! I guess when people get really mad they move on to accusations about sheep![]()
From my perspective, when some people find it rude when a potential client is asking for a discount, then what chance is there in a normal conversation.
My brother summed this up for me a few years ago. He would regularly go to see something advertised for sale in the local paper with half the asking price in his pocket in cash. More often than not, he would return with the item, purchased for half the price the seller originally wanted for it.
His view was "it's just money - it's nothing personal".
Steve.

He'd have wasted his & my time if he'd done that with me
I once agreed a sale price for a car at £3250 - when the guy turned up with his brother he offered me £3200 as 'all he had'. I made him empty his wallet where he 'found' another £20. I then made him see how much his brother had in his wallet and there was another £15
So - I told him to get in the car and we'd go to the bank, if the bank said all the cash was genuine he could had the keys for £3235 (a £15 saving)
The cash was indeed genuine so the deal was done. As we left the bank I set off to walk in the opposite direction to where we'd come from. He called to me that he wasn't sure where we'd parked the car and he had no idea how to get back to his brother (this was before mobile phone days) - my reply...
Give me £15 and I'll show you - and with that I left him to it
Dave
Saying no is one thing.
But that would have resulted in you still looking to sell a car and me buying another, which are, let's face it, easy to come by![]()
If you say so.It was a VERY good deal for the buyer too - you'd have been daft to not pay up properly
Dave
If you say so.
