Guys, guys! I did it, I fixed the broken plastic pin of the submirror on my EOS 300d. It was actually easier than I thought it would be and I saved myself £85! :)

If anyone else has this problem here is a link.

Look, autofocus works again!

As you maybe aware, I am rather pleased with myself! :)

Blimely! that looked a bit scary. Glad you managed to fix yours - Well done Kyle. I am too chicken to even clean my sensor.

Lots of b@lls for that repair Kyle.... Well done indeed....:woot:

You did all that:eek:
Well done:thumbs:

I was just getting sick of manual focussing, I'd missed too many great snapshots and though, "enough of this", and set to work!

I think that I had the confidence to do it because a, I am getting a replacement in a few months and b, the 300d is dead cheap nowadays!

It only took a few hours when I got the last 2 screws out (the ones in the battery compartment) - I couldn't get them out for a while because my screwdriver couldn't reach!

At first when I turned it on some of the buttons on the back didn't work, but that was because I didn't attach the ribbon cable properly! :)

Hehe, it's a friends... cat. ^_^

She is very difficult to photograph as she is rather shy, I think I snuck up on her on that one.

Whoa... check out the big balls on Kyle!

:'( I'm asking the mods to remove this thread

If the Mrs sees it she'll make me take the 30D back that I got because I had the same problem with my 300D.

Seriously though I salute you - That looks way too scary to try..... Well done !!

Oh, and you can have a crack at mine if you like

I think it easier to take shots of someone else’s pussy:nuts: then your own oops what I meant was (too late – way too late) :gag:that it is sometimes easier to take photos of other peoples pets as your own react to you but others don’t...
Does this make sense?

ps sorry sorry sorry

Well done, not everyone would attempt that!

WOW......no chance i would try that:nono: i probably
would not get to the first stage. £85 would be well spent getting Canon to do the repair.

:canon:

Congratulations I bet doing that is one the most satisfying things you have ever done, great stuff.

Nice job, well done. You can now spend £85 on more kit :)

 well done kyle
looks like a tricky bit of work - but you got a result!

Hi, I didn't know you had probs with it, but congratulations for being brave with attempts to fixing it yourself.
